NO. 55 CLOTHIERSimen'sWe^r A 0 D Illustrious Careers In Class Of '26 Rear Admiral, Educators; 37 Attended Many Illustrious careers came out of the graduating class of 1926 of the Algona high school, including a retired Rear Admiral of the U. S. Navy, Provost & Vice-President in charge of Academic Affairs of a State University, professional people, professors and teachers, business executives, musicians, public officials, ranchers and farmers, who came from Delaware to Montana to attend the 40th anniversary reunion of the Class of '26. The reunion picture is elsewhere in today's Upper Des Moines. Former teachers present we re Miss Frances Messer, of Hum- bodtj Mrs. Claris PettlgrewKre- sensky, of Algona and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Sutherland of Ames. "Chick" Sutherland, former coach at Algona high school was the main speaker following a buffet dinner at the Algona Country Club Saturday evening. His talk contained many humorous anecdotes of events which happened during his coaching tenure here at Algona high. Miss Atha Hardgrove gave the blessing which also contained a memorial tribute to the nine deceased class members, namely: Sidney Clark, Harold Falkenhainer, John Haggard, Thelma Horigan SeUcen, Ralph Lamuth, Dennis Myers, Glen Russell, Harold Sorenson, Bernard Tierney, as well as to J. F. Overmeyer and Miss Coate. Lloyd Bohannon was master of ceremonies for the evening. "Chick" Sutherland coached a Championship Football Team here in the fall of 1925 and many outstanding team members of that squad were of the Class of '26. There were 37 class members attending the dinner which was served to a total number of 63, including the husbands and wives who also were invited. The total number of graduates in the class was 84. Garden Club Fifteen Algona Garden Club members attended the July 11 meeting at the home of Mrs. Walter Boeckholt. A report of the Presidents' Luncheon, held at Perry, June 28, was given by Mrs. James Hinton, president, and Mrs. Donald Trupke. The July program chairman, Mrs. James Baker, discussed different phases of horticulture. "Its Time To" was read by Mrs. Martin Becker. At the close of the meeting, all members went to the home of Mrs. Harry Tregenza to see the beautiful 111- lies she has in bloom. The August meeting of the club will be at Mrs. Ben Lampe's in Bancroft, with Mfs. Wm. Wiskus assisting. Helen Johnson To Wed James Ricke Aug. 6, Bancroft 3 years in the Army. He is now engaged in farming. The couple will wed in St. John's Catholic church on Aug. 6. HELEN JANE JOHNSON BANCROFT - Mrs. Leona Johnson of Bancroft announces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Helen Jane to Mr. James B. Ricke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roman Ricke, also of Bancroft. Miss Johnson is a graduate of St. John high school of Bancroft and is employed at Arrow Insurance Co. in St. Paul Min- esota. Mr. Ricke also graduated from St. John's high school and spent COFFEE FOR VISITORS Mrs. Bill Garman of Algona was hostess at a coffee for Mrs. Cal Callesen last week, and Mrs. Milo Kollasch was hostess at another for the same visitor. Guests at Mrs. Carman's were Mesdames Ed Hibbs, Walter Ewen and Clarence Metzger, Sr. Guests at the Kollasch home were Mesdames Roger Yarborough, Algona, and Paul Elbert, LuVerne, and Betty Muller of Whittemore and Jo Ann Lickteig of Algona. Mrs. Merle Moore of Algona was another coffee hostess honoring Mrs. Callesen and guests were former classmates, Mrs. Don McGulre, Mrs. Les Wildin and Mrs. Don Meyer, all of Algona. Has Surgery Mr. and Mrs. Robert Poush, former Algonans, are in Rochester, Minn., Mr. Poush at the Hotel Arthur, following a checkup.
