The Independent. LOCAL. Thanksgiving Service will be held in St. Luke's Church on Thanksgiving Day, at 10 o'clock a. 11.

Social party at Metropolis Hall last Thursday evening was a very pleasant affair and a success financially. "The boys footed the bills." On ten o'clock this morning the case of the Terrritory vs. Laws and Shobert was set for trial. The ease ill probably consume the day. Quarterly Meeting was held in the M.

E. Church in this city, on last Saturday and Sunday. Revs. Wilbur and Fairchilds were in attendance and delivered sermons. Lieut.

Boutelle and wife, and Miss birdie Hayden, arrived in this city last week from Walla Walla, where they have been residing. The Lieut, is at present stationed at Fort Vancouver. Father WILBtJB arrived in this city last Saturday, having in charge two Indians from the Yakima Reservation, charged with larceny. They ere handed over to the authorities at the Post. people of Vancouver made quite liheral donations of money and provisions for the family of the late A.

0. Barlow. Among other donations was one of rive dollars from Lincoln Lodge, I. 0. G.

T. Bilks. has had her share of bilks of late. A sparring entertainment was given at Metropolis Hall last Wednesday evening, and we are informed by a ho was present, that it was a geuuiuo swindle, hilk and give-away. Entertainment.

-Lincoln Lodge, 1. 0. G. will shortly give a musical and dramatic entertainment, in which some of Vancouver's talent will participate. They have been practicing at their hall for several weeks aud the people are promised a lirst class entertainment.
