who died at his home in Plainfield Thursday will be held Sunday at 2:30 pm at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor Burial will be in the Ascutney Cemetery in the spring He was born July 17 1911 in Windsor the son of Fred A and Daisy (Amidon) Fitts He graduated from Windsor High School in 1932 During his high school days ho participated in several sports particularly football and basketball Ho was a member of the Windsor team when the school won the state football championship Fitts worked for a time at the Portsmouth NH Naval Yard and returned to Windsor in 1918 to work for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co Since 1955 be had barn head of the vocational education department of Windsor High School He was a member of the Naval Lodge and AM of Kittery Maine Survivors include his wife Evelyn Daigle Fitts two daughters Gail and Mary both of Plainfield four sisters Mrs Dorothy Ekberg ot Claremont Mrs Ruth Colvoord of Walpole Mrs Ada Victorious and Mrs Lena Bigelow both of Charlottesville Va a brother James Fitts of California and nieces and nephews Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Luther Smith LEBANON incomplete at this time JOHN AGAN by Story SEE THE NEW COLOR TV Castleton Getting New Apt Building BURLINGTON VL (AP) The Board of Vermont Colleges has approved construction of a self-supporting apartment building for Castleton College which is scheduled for occupancy this fall Chairman Ward Bedford said yesterday the construction project would be the first in a three-phase building program at the college He said the building will be income-producing we won't have to go to the Legislature for any more Other construction would include more dormitories dining halls additions to the science building and remodeling of other structures He said the first two stages could cost $2 million Smuggled Cubans Into This Country BURLINGTON VL (AP) Philip A Malloy 58 of Montreal will serve six months of a three year prison sentence for smuggling three Cuban aliens into this country Federal Judge Ernest Gibson found Malloy guilty and placed him on parole after his prison term is completed with the understanding that he never return to the United States The offense allegedly occurred last at Derby Line II Tobacco Revenue Is Up CONCORD NH (AP)- Reve-niga from the tobacco fox continued to show a steady rise this year Paul Casci director of the Tobacco Products Tax Division said yesterday As of Feb 28 the net revenue was $3096941 This was $201788 more than was reported at the end of the first eight months of the fiscal year in 1961 Casci said Berlin Mechanic Critically Hurl HANOVER NH A mechanic from Berlin remained in critical condition today from a fractured skull he received while working on a truck wheel Jean Lcclerc 38 was struck on the head with an 18-pound which flew off with vicious force as he hammered on the wheel to loosen it The mishap occurred in the garage of Berlin Springs Inc of which Lcclerc is co-owner Two Cops Getting Sentences Today BURUNGTON Vt (AP)-Two of five former Burlington policemen charged with committing burglaries on their old beats will be sentenced today in Chittenden Municipal Court Richard Bales 38 and James Bleau 25 were arrested in January and later admitted a nighttime burglary at a city warehouse last June 8 Bates and Bleau were arrested with Harry Muir Jr who has maintained his innocence and is scheduled to go on trial in Chittenden County Court next month Keyser Discovers Strike Difficult MONTPELIER Vt (AP) Prospects for a pick Manchester as the site for a new technical school Meeting for 24 hours last night the group voted to petition the board to review its decision to locate the $14 million school in Concord The group also voted to launch injunction proceedings if the board refused to re-open the entire question of where the school should be constructed Fire Ravages Radio Station PORTSMOUTH NH (AP)- A damage estimate of $250000 was placed today on the fire-ravaged studios and transmuting center of radio station WHEB' Portsmouth The station was unable to return to the air during the early morning hours but personnel were awaiting delivery of a transmitter and hoped to resume broadcasting before noon The flames broke out yesterday and raced through the building so quickly that the station went off the
