INTERNATIONAL DELUXE STAINLESS RENDER CHUNK To Feature Work of 3 Area Artists Arts, Crafts Show Set at YWCA Personals The Social Notebook The Salem 5 Tuesday, April 20, 1976 Mr and Mrs. Roy Eichler of 416 Ash Ave. have returned from a six-week vacation tour of Florida, California, Colorado and other parts of the country. The couple visited Mrs. sister in Estero, her cousins, Mr.

and Mrs. Richard Christman in Maitland, and her aunt and family in Miami. The Eichlers then went to San Diego, where they visited with Mrs. aunt, Mrs. Carl B.

Hays, and Mr. and Mrs. William Hays. Returning home, the Eichlers visited their son, Ronald, a former United Local teacher, at his home in Littleton, Colo. They also visited a former resident James Slaby.

I The eighth annual Salem Art I and Crafts Show being spon- I sored by the YWCA and the I Salem Area Art Guild will be I Jield April 30-May 2 at the I YWCA, and will feature the works of three talented area women, Erma Eaton of Salem. Josiane Higgins of Ravenna and Diane Less of Greenford. The featured artists have frequently displayed their works at area art shows. Miss Eaton, who specializes in scratchboard drawings, has received numerous prizes for her work including acceptance in the prestigious Area Annual at Butler Institute in Youngstown. Winner of the Thelma Mendsen Award for best art in last local Art Show, Miss Eaton has captured a total of 41 ribbon a wares and has sold 708 paintings throughout Ohio, Arizona.

Michigan and Florida. She was one of six artists whose work is featured in the local Bicentennial Calendar, her selection being a black and white scratchboard drawing of the Friends Meeting House. She has also had four drawings reproduced in the bicentennial edition of McGuffey Readers, Update 1976. A native of New Middletown, she grew up on a farm near Hanoverton and moved to Salem in 1967. She is a graduate of the Famous Artists School in Westport.

HIGGINS of 720 Price Ravenna, is well known for ie? work in acrylic paint, ieaturing nature themes of animals, birds etc. She is a prolific exhibitor and has had her work displayed at many area shows including the Canton Art Institute, Ashtabula Arts Center in Massillon. Canfield and Akron, in addition to having one-woman shows.

Mrs. Higgins, who was born and educated in Brussels, Belgium, works mainly on canvas and wood in a realistic style. DIANE LESS, well known in the area for her dramatic sign paintings on trucks and vans, is also familiar to area residents for her sculpture and paintings of horses. She also excels in sculpture, pottery and porcelain. A daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Paul Less of 6385 South Range Road, she is working on a degree at Mt. Union College and teaches at Waterloo High School in Atwater. She has had numerous exhibits, most recently participating in the 28th annual Ohio Ceramics and Sculpture Show at Butler Institute of American Art. ALL AMATEUR and professional artists may submit entries in the show, in any media including paintings, prints, drawings, crafts and sculpture.

There is a limit to four major entries per artist, to be framed and wired for hanging. However there is no limit on portfolios, but artists must furnish their own stands. Smaller craft items and small framed paintings (5x7 and under) are limited to 10 items. Each entry must be labeled on the back with the name, title and price, and portfolio items and small paintings and crafts should be accompanied by an 84x11 itemized and numbered list for the sales desk. Major entries should be listed on a sheet of notebook paper giving the name, address, media, prices and classification.

Registration for entries will be April 26-27 between the hours of 2 to 4 afW 7 to 9. Entries being shipped to the YWCA must arrive no later than April 26, and will be returned C.O.D. Entry forms are available at the YWCA office. Full time students enrolled in a secondary or elementary school are welcome to enter (free of charge) in the junior classification.
