Drucilla Cheek, of Franklin, who is charged with child neglect, was taken under advisement by Judge Grant Rogers after the submission of evidence. Previously arranged on November 21, she refused at that time to plead and the court entered a plea of not guilty for her. Mrs. Cheek is charged with neglect and contributing to the neglect of her five minor children. Evelyn Ashcraft was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to a charge of child neglect.

A large blue cross gleams from the top of the tree and presents a beautiful appearance. At the same time, the colored lights strung from lamp to lamp post in the main business block were toned on. Balsam greenery is entwined around the lamp posts and is most attractive.

The city hall building has large green wreaths in the first-floor windows and lighted candles gleam from the second floor windows. Lieut, (s.g.) William Stainbrook arrived in Franklin Tuesday morning from Manila after receiving his honorable discharge at the Great Lakes naval separation center Monday. He served in the armed forces five years, seeing service in the Aleutians and in the South Pacific.

"Ready Honey" HERE! Birth Announced Announcement has been received of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rexroth on November 27 at the City hospital in Riverside, Calif. The baby has been given the name of David Bruce. He is the fourth son of the couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Rexroth, who recently moved to California from Franklin, live at 6081 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, Calif. Four soloists will sing with an au-gumented chorus of 100 voices when Handel's great oratorio, "The Messiah," is presented on the evening of December 12 at 8:15 o'clock in the Franklin College auditorium. Prof.

Alfred Mudrich will direct. The soloists are Mrs. E. Wayne Berry, soprano: Miss Georgianna Keaten, contralto; and Jeffery Van Norman, tencr, all of Columbus; and Hov.ard Isler, bass, of Franklin. E.

Wayne Berry, of Columbus, will accompany the choruses at the organ and will play the 'Overture" and the "Pastoral Symphony." Miss Rose Marie Kinnear will accompany all of the solos and the choruses at the piano. Dr. W. G. Spencer, president of Franklin College, will give the invocation.

S. Tranbarger, 82. United Brethren minister who died at Ball Hospital in Muncie. The Rev. Mr.

Tranbarger held a pastorate in Greenwood at one time. He had served in the White River United Brethren conference since 1890. He had also held pastorates at Greentown, Gaston, Dubiln, Frank-ton, New Castle, New Lisbon, Cowan, Selma and Muncie. The widow, three sons and two daughters survive. Action Is Taken On Four Cases In Circuit Court Today To divorces were granted as action was taken on four divorce cases in circuit court today. A divorce was granted to Mrs.

Matilda B. Lee from George E. Lee, and Mrs. Lee was given custody of the minor child. The defendant was ordered to pay the sum of $3 per week to aid the plaintiff in the support of the child until he is 18 years of age.

The court ruled that it shall be unlawful for the plaintiff to re-marry for a period of two years, in granting a divorce to Mrs. Martha Bru-baker from James Gordon Brubaker. Mrs. Brubaker was awarded the custody of two children. Evidence was heard in the case of Mrs.

Effie Morris, who filed for divorce from Harry Earl Morris, and the case was taken under advisement by Judge Grant Rogers. A hearing was held on the petition of the plaintiff, Mrs. Pauletta Coffman, for suit and support money pending. The court finding was that the defendant, Walter Coffman, pay $50 for the use. and benefit of the plaintiff's attorney in the 'divorce action.

WThF Of Three To Receive Prize Scholarship EDINBURG, Dec. 5 Joseph W. Gingery, brother of the Rev. Robert W. Gingery of the Methodist church, has been awarded the coveted Ernie Pyle scholarship offered through the Ernie Pyle Memorial Fund at Indiana University.

Mr. Gingery was cue of three students at I. U. who merited this honor. The scholarships are offered to students attending the university's school of journalism which Ernie Pyle had attended in his youth, and are based on yearly grades, years of military service, merit of an entry thesis or written article, and other specified requirements.

Joseph Gingery attended Earlham College two years prior to serving on a bomber three Sears over Get many. Upon discharge from service he entered Indiana University, where he is now a junior. Mr. Gingery is married and has three sons. Nelson, and twin sons, Joel and Walter.
