BROOKLYN LIFE 111 Boston Tech Concert and Dance One of the coming Christmas events of interest is the concert to be given by the combined musical clubs of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Opera House of the Academy of Music on December twentyseventh. The concert, which promises to be exceedingly enjoyable, will be followed by a dance in the ballroom. The committee in charge consists of Mr. Wilfred M. Thompson, chairman; Mr.

Raymond C. Rundlett and Mr. John L. Liecty. A number of Packer girls have been asked to usher, and they will include, Miss Katherine Renwick, Miss Lillian Scharman, Miss Helena Jelliffe, Miss Evelyn Chittendon, Miss Geraldine Becker, Miss Elliott Paulin, Miss Alice Tiebout, Miss Alice Bennett, Miss Lorraine Caldwell, Miss Stephanie Siney, Miss Miriam Smith, Miss Eleanor Field, Miss Eleanor Todd, Miss Mildred Smith, Miss Audrey Silsbe, Miss Marjorie Wright, Miss Alice Frank, Miss Irma Berrian, Miss Sylvia Sleeper, Miss Helen Pack and Miss Frances Hawley.

Adelphi College Girls to Usher The Adelphi College girls who will act as ushers at the Boston Tech Concert and Dance are Miss Ethel Ebke, Miss Gladys McDonell, Miss Gertrude Kienal, Miss Dorothy Blodgett, Miss Marion Sloane, Miss Grace Ranger, Miss Florence Graham, Miss Rose Adelberg, Miss Norma Haskell, Miss Martha Halversen, Miss Eleanor McClelland, Miss Elizabeth Gash, Miss Grace Sand, Miss Louise Jachens, Miss Agnes Christiansen, Miss Margaret Esquiral, Miss Claire Wedegartner, Miss Florence Brown, Miss Kathryn Supple, Miss Anna Lieb, Miss Ruth Lieb, Miss Edith Hurd, Miss Alice Cain, Miss Mildred Wright, Miss Carolyn Francis, Miss Emily Mount, Miss Harriet Somers, Miss Edna O'Niell, Miss Gertrude Erdmann and Miss Olive Granger. The Adelphi committee for the dance to follow in the ballroom includes Miss Mildred Wright, chairman; Miss Marion Sloane, Miss Rose Adelberg, Miss Grace Ranger, and Miss Florence Graham. Details of the Boston Tech Concert The concert will consist of numbers from the Glee, Banjo and Mandolin Clubs, together with several interesting and entertaining specialty acts. The Glee Club is under the leadership of H. H.

Fiske, '21. In the specialty acts, Ed Schmitz, '23, leading comedian in last year's "Tech" show, stands out as a headliner. He will sing, besides his song hit from the show, some of the newest bits of jazzology. The "Siamese Twins," "Phisit Arthacinta" and "Prasob Sukhum," will offer a rather unique act, consisting of some of the more famous Siamese songs, together with interpretations of American ragtime. Miss Elizabeth Buchanan' Engagement Announced Mrs.

Edwin F. Buchanan of 289 Hancock Street, announces the engagement of her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Frances Buchanan, to Mr. G. Herbert Felter. Miss Buchanan is a well-known Packer girl, and has been connected with the Red Cross in Brooklyn since the beginning of the war.

Mr. Felter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Felter, of the Hotel Chatelaine, this borough.

Their home formerly was at 522 Putnam Avenue. He is a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School, attended New York University and served overseas during the war with the 104th Machine Gun Battalion of the 27th Division. Mrs. Buchanan entertained a number of relatives and friends of both families at a bridge party on Saturday evening of last week, at which time the engagement was announced. Benefit Bridge at Packer A bridge for the benefit of the Packer Endowment Fund was given by the collegiate class of 1919 in the library of the Institute Saturday afternoon, December fourth.

Mark's Avenue, whose engagement to Mr. William Siegrist, was announced recently Christmas Dance at Poly Day School The Oasis, the honor society of the Polytechnic Preparatory Country Day School, is giving a Christmas dance at the school at Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge, from four until seven o'clock on Friday afternoon, December twenty-fourth. This will take the place of the annual show which in former years has been given at approximately the same date at the Masonic Temple. Music for the dancing will be furnished by de Steffani's orchestra and refreshments will be served. The guests will include all the members of the school and also former Oasis members and many of the alumni.

James Augustus Borum, of Portsmouth, Va. The marriage will take place in the early spring. St. Lawrence University News St. Lawrence chapter of Beta Theta Pi held its annual ball in the college gymnasium on Friday evening, December third.

The ball which has always been one of the largest functions in the college social world was well attended, and the gymnasium was attractively decorated in the fraternity colors and the lamps shaded with Beta crests in pink and blue. At either end of the hall were suspended St. Lawrence and Beta shields. Snappy music was provided by an orchestra from Syracuse, and the couples danced until midnight, when refreshments were served during the intermission. were distributed in Chapel last Friday morning. These regulations provide that Freshman women shall wear green ribbon armbands bearing the white letters FRESH upon the left arm and small bows of the same colored ribbon upon the right wrist. The wearing of a scarlet sweater, class numerals, monograms, or a man's fraternity pin is most strictly forbidden. Talking or walking upon the campus or in the halls with men is prohibited also. All forms of athletics are encouraged by the campus council except golf, in which Freshman women are strictly advised not to indulge.

The breaking of these laws is punished according to the discretion of the Council. House Parties at St. Lawrence The vacation fraternity house parties provided pleasant evenings during the Thanksgiving holidays for many of the Brooklynites at St. Lawrence. At the Kappa Kappa Gamma Lodge, Miss Jessie M.

Barclay, Miss Una L. Tuthill, Miss Elizabeth G. Crisler, Miss Mary E. Gunnison, Miss Dorothy M. Thompson and Miss Elizabeth Arnold were hostesses.

Mr. Robert Barker and Mr. Charles L. Tillinghast and Mr. Walter M.

Swertfager were among the guests. Miss Edna M. Ringe, Miss Hope Atkinson and Miss Nancy Shields helped to entertain at the Delta Delta Delta House. At the Alpha Tau Omega House Mr. Robert Barker, Mr.

Charles L. Tillinghast and Mr. Wells Mitchell were present. The Beta Theta Pi dance was attended by Miss Mary E. Gunnison, Miss Dorothy Thompson, Mr.

Van Horn Gledhill, Mr. Seth Brooks and Mr. Walter Swertfager. Mr. Paul E.

Warburg acted as one of the hosts of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house party. Wells College Club Reunion The first reunion this season of the New York Wells College Club took the form of a luncheon held on Tuesday afternoon, November thirtieth, in Manhattan, at which 65 were present. The newly elected president, Mrs. Kenneth F. Clark, presided, and the guests of honor were the president of Wells College, Dr.

Kerr D. Macmillan, and Miss Mary Garrett Hay, president of the New York City Club. Dr. Macmillan discussed the betterment of the present curriculum at the college. Miss Hay pointed out the responsibilities as voters of college women.

Christmas Market at St. Bartholomew's A fair, to be known as the Christmas Market, will be held in the Parish House of St. Bartholomew's Church, Pacific Street, near Bedford Avenue, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, December fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth, under the auspices of the Women's Community League the proceeds of which will go towards the decorations for the new Community House which is to be built directly. The fair will open Tuesday at six o'clock and at two o'clock on Wednesday and Thursday. There will be the usual tables where fancy articles may be bought, and tables for stationery, groceries, candy, cake and ice cream.

There will also be a doll and toy table for the children which should prove of great interest. A cafeteria room, in charge of Mrs. W. S. Doig and Mrs.

J. S. Yergason, will furnish supper to those who desire it. There will also be a tea room in charge of Mrs. George Vogel.

Music will be furnished every evening by Muller's Orchestra. The fair coming at this time should give those attending an opportunity to purchase some gifts for Christmas and at the same time assist the church in raising money for a very good cause. Omega Gamma Delta Dance in Manhattan The Omega Gamma Delta Fraternity, which is at present established in twenty preparatory schools covering New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Michigan and Washington, will hold its annual winter dance in the grand ballroom of the Hotel Pennsylvania on Wednesday evening, December twentyninth..
