Fred Montgomery, son of Mrs. W. H. Hampton, who has been visiting with his mother for the past two months, lias gone to San Francisco to re enter the navy as electrician. He has recently finished a four-year cruise with the Asiatic squadron.

Roger Entriken left on Saturday mom ing for Lis home in 'Philadelphia after spending several years in the mines of Southern Oregon. He was a prominent member of the Grants Pass ball trrftn and has a number of brilliant plays to his credit in the season of 1901. Scribner Henderson, owners of the faruous Wolf creek bonantit, were in town on Monduy. In these days of quartz mills and hydraulic giants, mines worked with a pan are not frequent, but theirs is of that character. Their ground however, does not require to be mined, but merely cleaned up.

Geo. 8. Calhnnn arrived on Saturday evening from Ashland and left on the following evening 011 his journey to the e.nt. He will visit at Portland on the way. He expects to be absent about two months, spending the most of his time in Connecticut.

Lee occupied the pulpit at the I'rcsbyterian church both morning and evening and delivered impressive and thoroughly practical sermons, greatly enjoyed by those who uttended.
