Ticket Nomliiateti The delegates selected by the Democrats of Franklin county met in convention in the armory of the Franklin Guards in this place on Tuesday to nominate a county ticket There was also a large turn out of represen tative Democrats from the different parts of tbe county present who came here to urge upon tbe delegates their preferences for the offices to be filled All of the 134 delegates were present themselves or by substitution The convention strongly endorsed the Chicago nominees There was no contests over the organization of the convention Shortly after 10:30 o'clock that a former citizen Mr George liurkhart had committed suicide early Friday night by using three different ways either or which would have been successful Mr Burkbart was a uatlve of this place a son of the late Lewis liurkhart and was bom here thirty-tiye years ago lie was married te a sister of Max Schwartz shoemaker and his wife and five children are living in Philadelphia The dead man was an excellent clerk and held good positions in several stores in town and also in the mill of his uncle Burkhart on North Second street About five years ago he and his family moved to Philadelphia and the father held good positions there About a year ago he began to act queerly and about five months ago his mind became so bad that he had to quit work His wife placed him in an Institution but he didn't remain long About six weeks ago lie spent some time here visiting his mother and several-brothers-in-law but returned to the city On Tuesday or last week he came to town and stayed all night with bis sister Mrs Charles Schaubla Last Wednesday he went out to the home of John Frey north of town and splint that day Thursday and Friday at the homes of different members of tbe Frey family He seemed to be sick but said nothing about taking his life He was last seen at Amos Frey's on Friday about four o'clock He then said he was going to stay In towu all night Tbe cattle of Joseph Lehman had broken out of pasture on Friday night and early Saturday morniug Mr Lehman and Isaac White went in search of them On a fence which runs along the east side of John frey's woods they found a dead man sitting leaning forward suspended by a rope from the limb above him His hat was on a fence stake and a pistol was lying on the ground back of him Tho body was cut down by Geo Britsch and Dr It Ramsey who happened by and later was identified as that of George liurkhart He bad crawled up on the fence untied bis shoes removed his collar and necktie fastened a rope around the limb placed the noose around his neck drank nearly a bottle of laudanum shot himself in the mouth and had fallen forward dead before tbe rope tightened It was a most deliberate and successful suicide No papers were left on his person to explain the act Coroner Suesserott held an inquest on tbe spot with these jurors: John Land Is John Frey Frank Besore Abram Frey John Seacrlst and Joseph Horst Their verdict was that death came to the deceased at bis own hands The body was then removed to town The funeral took place Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence of Eahnestock brother in law of tbe deceased and
