Tonya, Johnston City Freimuth, Michelle, Carbondale Cappellano, Clara, Carterville Leonard Knepper MOUNT VERNON Leonard Vern Knepper, 83, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 1937, at home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hughey Funeral Home, with burial in Bethel Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Knepper had been a guard at Joliet State Prison, and had been a coal miner. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.

He was born Dec. 28, 1903, in Jasper County to Charles and Mary Knepper. He married Nellie Walker in 1934. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jack Knepper of Braidwood and Daniel Knepper of Hendersonville, one daughter, Shirley Butler of Brighton, two half brothers, Harry Evans of Carlyle and William Evans of Jackson, four half sisters, Helen Soulon, Betty Tate, Frances Albert and Virginia Rohbaugh, all of Odin; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

One stepson, two half brothers and two half sisters preceded him in death. Juanita Hart MURPHYSBORO Juanita Hart, 80, of 617 N. 14th St. died at 2:13 p.m. Friday, Aug.

21, 1987, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Crawshaw Mortuary. Romilda Olmsted HERRIN Romilda Olmsted, 73, of 301 N. 14th St.

died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 1937, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Services will be at 10 a.m.

Monday in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, with burial in San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The rosary will be said at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was a retired seamstress for Allen Industries. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She was born June 8, 1914, in Freeman Spur to Joseph and Natalena Garavalia. Survivors include one sister, Teresa Vowell of Herrin. Two brothers preceded her in death.

29, 1917, in Benton to Durward and Myrtle Rone. He married Marcella Coffel in 1940. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Dennis Rone of Morrisonville and Terry Rone of Sesser; two daughters, Lana Wilson and Barbara Burgess, both of Sesser; two brothers, George Rone of Thompsonville and Robert Rone of Benton; one sister, Jessie Eyre of Phoenix, seven grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Ruby Fravell ORIENT Ruby Fravell, 83, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 1987, in Union Hospital in West Frankfort. Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday in Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with burial in Denning Cemetery in Orient.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Fravell was a homemaker. She was born Oct.

9, 1903, in Thompsonville to Allen and Lula Isaacs. She married Roy Fravell. He died in 1957. Survivors include eight sons, Bill and Dale Fravell, both of East Peoria, Edward Fravell of Orient, John Fravell of Columbus, Donald Fravell of Studio City, Bobbie Fravell of Pensacola, Charles Fravell of Paoli, and Larry Fravell of Bay Town, Texas; six daughters, Louise Fravell of Key West, Norma Evans of Tampa, Ruth Norris of Eaton Rapids, Mary Baroughf of Lansing, Judy Verschueren of West Frankfort and Deanna Fravell of Orient; one sister, Lela Paul of LaMirada, 19 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, two daughters, one brother and one grandchild also preceded her in death.

Alan Garner HARRISBURG Alan Curtis Garner, 32, of 408 S. McKinley St. died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 1987, in Wellborn Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Palistine Cemetery in Saline County. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Gibbons-Wei-rauch Funeral Home.

Mr. Garner was an Air Force veteran. He was born Jan. 26, 1955, in Har-risburg to Sylvester and Retha Garner. He married Helen Anglin.

She survives. Other survivors include one son, Justin Garner of Pascagoula, two daughters, Sue and Kristina Garner, both of Pascagoula; his parents; one brother, Dennis Garner of Evansville, two sisters, Debra and Peggy Garner, both of Chicago; a grandfather, Audie Henshaw of Harrisburg; and a stepgrandmother, Leona Meier of Harrisburg. MURPHYSBORO Lewis E. Adkins, 93, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Aug.

21, 1987, in Jackson County Nursing Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Huffman Funeral Home, with burial in Elk-ville Cemetery. Visitation will be Adkins from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Adkins was a retired insurance broker for Great West Life Insurance Co. He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion, and was a veteran of World War I. He was born Feb. 6, 1894, in Elk-ville Township to William and Eliza Adkins.

He married Edna Morris in 1937. She died in 1977. Survivors include one son, Jeff Adkins of Palo Alto, two brothers, Roy Adkins of Evansville, and Ray Adkins of Bicknell, Ind. two sisters, Alma Van Cleve of Carbondale and Orbie Graff of Dow-ell; and two grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.

Jessie Hayes MARION Jessie Hayes, 92, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 1987, in Marion Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m Sunday in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with burial in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

18, 1894, in Can-nelburg, to Herman and Etta Strauss. She married Floyd Hayes. He preceded her in death. Survivors include several nephews and nieces. Four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Ella Brown MOUNT VERNON Ella Mae Brown, 67, of Pocatello, Idaho, formerly of Mount Vernon, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 1987, at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Bethel Memorial Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She also was active in several leatherworkers and sewing groups in Pocatello.

She was born March 6, 1920, in Mount Vernon to Hugh and Mary Chambliss. She married William Brown in 1938. He died in 1963. Survivors include four sons, Bobby Brown of Salt Lake City and Gary, William and Marvin Brown, all of Pocatello; four brothers, Kenneth Chambliss of Mount Vernon, Herman Chambliss of Pocatello, William Chambliss of Three Rivers, and Harold Chambliss of Stoughton, one sister, Mary Paske of Stoughton; and 10 grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Police State Police An 81-year-old Carbondale woman was treated and released Thursday from Memorial Hospital of Carbondale following a collision with an Illinois Department of Transportation dump truck on Illinois 13, one-tenth of a mile east of New Era Road. Francis J. Merideth was taken to the hospital following the 12:55 p.m. accident.

State police reports indicate Merideth's car and the dump truck, which was driven by Edward W. Gardner, were both westbound on Illinois 13 when the Merideth vehicle pulled into the right lane in front of the truck and struck the dump truck's right front fender. Merideth was charged with improper lane usage. Neither Gardner, 50, of Mounds City nor a passenger in the dump truck, Lewis Aarion, 54, of Cairo were injured. Two West Frankfort teen-agers remained in Herrin Hospital Friday following a one-vehicle accident Thursday in Williamson County.

Jeff G. Karnes, 17, and Anut Willmore, 18, were in satisfactory condition, a spokeswoman said. State police said MURPHYS-BORO Frank Riggio, 74, of 904 Summerset St. died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug.

20, 1987, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospi-1 Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, with burial in the Rlgglo church cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m.

Sunday and until 9 a.m. Monday at Crawshaw Mortuary. The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mr. Riggio was a retired carpenter and former co-owner of Riggio-Naas Construction Co. He was a member of Herrin Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7190 and American Legion Post 127, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was born May 22, 1913, in Wil-lisville to Charles and Antainette Riggio. He married Alice Swetland in 1933.

She survives. Other survivors include one son, Daniel Riggio of Murphysboro; three brothers, Carlo Riggio of Murphysboro, Ben Riggio of Carmel, and Mike Riggio of Los Gatos, and three grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. Floyd Baker WOODLAWN Floyd B. Baker, 83, died at 11:56 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1987, at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with burial in Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation will be until 10 a.m.

at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Wood-lawn Baptist Church. Mr. Baker was a coal miner, and had also owned a trucking company. He was a member of Crossville Baptist Church.

He was born Feb. 6, 1904, in Hamilton County to David and Betty Baker. He married Eleanor Williams in 1925. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Derwood Baker of Woodlawn, Donald Baker of Houston and Floyd Baker of Gilbertsville, one daughter, Betty Bishop of Wester-ville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

One daughter and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Scott Hines CARBONDALE H. Scott Hines, 28, of Phoenix, formerly of Carbondale, died at 8:46 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 1987, in Detroit.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today in the First Presbyterian Church in Carbondale. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Sunday in Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower. Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Duncan MOUNT VERNON Anna Mae Duncan, 89, clied at 4:25 a.m. Friday Aug. 21, 1987, in Crossroads Community Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Hughey Funeral Home. The victim was not injured.

Perry County Perry County deputies arrested a 31-year-old rural Du Quoin man Friday morning on a warrant charging him with child abduction. Tim J. Lee was released after posting $500 cash bond. He is accused of violating a court order by not returning his children to their mother. Randolph County Sheriff deputies arrested a 61-year-old Willisville man Thursday on Jackson County warrant charging him with home invasion, criminal trespass to a residence and battery.

Edward Elmer Griffiths Jr. was released from custody after posting $1,500 cash bond. Jefferson County A 58-year-old man from Calhoun, was in the Jefferson County Jail under $5,000 bond Friday following his arrest earlier in the day by Mount Vernon police. John L. O'Banion was held on a Texas warrant charging him with larceny, sheriff's deputies said.

1 i Court Franklin County A 53-year-old Valier man has been sentenced to prison following his conviction on charges of aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. James R. Jackson pleaded guilty to the charges last month in Circuit Court in Franklin County. Judge Larry Hill sentenced Jackson Friday to two years in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections. State's Attorney Terry Green said Jackson admitted striking his wife and firing a shot at another person.

Both incidents took place on June 1, 1986, at Misspelled: The name of Dick Pacey of Centralia was misspelled in Thursday's Southern Illinoisan in a photo caption about students moving back to the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale campus this week. Hays, 19, both of West Frankfort, were released following hospital treatment Thursday. Police said the Jeep left the gravel roadway and struck some trees before it overturned.

Carbondale Two strong-arm robbers reportedly took $8 from a man they accosted late Thursday in the 300 block of East College Street. The 20-year-old victim, whom police did not identify, said two black men threw him to the ground at about 10:30 p.m., took his wallet and then fled. The suspects were described as being in their late teens. One, who wore a T-shirt and shorts, was about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighed about 130 pounds. The second suspect was wearing gray sweat pants and a T-shirt, police said, and was described as about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and about 140 pounds.
