New Name For Finance Firm Located Here Thursday, Junft 9, 1966 Algeria ((a.) Upper Des Mftfnil—3 Ruth Usher Of Ottosen Is I.S.U. Grad & A Bride R, O. GRIFFIN Omaha, Nebr. - A new name and corporate identification is being announced for the Iowa Finance Company office in Algona, Iowa at 112 North Moore. Iowa Finance Company offices will be known as Avco Finance according to Mr. R. 0. Griffin, the Algona Iowa Finance Company manager. Iowa Finance Company, one of a group of 74 offices in several states, was recently acquired by Avco Corporation, a national company that includes Avco Crosley Broadcasting, Avco New Idea Farm Equipment, Avco Lycoming Engines, and several other major divisions. Iowa Finance Company has maintained a consumer finance office in Algona since 1963. Mr. Griffin said in connection with the announcement of the new identity, "The new change is in our name only. Avco Finance Will continue to offer exactly the same personal finance service available before. As a matter of fact, I believe we will be able to offer even better service because of the added strength of the company. " OTTOSEN - Ruth Elaine Usher daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. Usher and Kenneth Howard Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hoard of Evansport, Ohio, were united in marriage Saturday, May 28 at the University Lutheran church at Ames. Rev. Robert J. LeMont officiated. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore her mother's wedding gown of floor length white Chiffon. The short puffed sleeves were trimmed with shirring and lily of the valley blossoms. She had a lace, bead trimmed cap attached to the long trailing veil of bridal illusion. She carried a white Bible with a white gardenia bouquet. Her sister Sara, was maid of honor. The groom and his attendant William Looft, were dressed in dark business suits and had white carnation boutonnieres. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors. Mrs. Louis Henrikson, aunt of the bride, sat at the guest book and another aunt, Mrs. Wilbur Stone cut the wedding cake. Mrs. John Nye, sister of the bride served the punch. Sue Collingwood of Cedar Falls was in charge of the gifts. - o - Calvin Haug, Tommy Jacobson and Linda LeMont were con firmed Sunday at the Lutheran church by the Rev. Robert J. Le Mont. Sunday dinner guests at the Haug home in honor of Calvin were Mr. and Mrs. James Barber and family of West Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kinseth, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Kinseth. Sunday dinner guests at the Louis Jacobsons in honor of Tommy's confirmation were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Krause and family, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Wehrspanri and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zlnnel and Mrs. Gunda Enockson. Weekend guests at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Robert J. Le- Mont for Linda's confirmation were Mrs. Mary Gerdes and Mr. Earl Rivers of Cedar Rapids. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gress and their two children, Allison and Bruce were honored at a reception at the Commercial Club building. Mr. Gress has been in service in England and was married to an English girl. Connie Gress, Carrie and Brenda Jacobson sat at the guest book. Bonnie Gerber, Mrs. Louis Jacobson, Cheryl Gerber and Caroline Gerber helped with the gifts. Mrs. Arthur Banwart served the punch, Mrs. Eli Gerber served Ice cream , Mrs. Noah Gerber cut the cake and Mrs. Harold Frambach served the coffee. Hostesses were Margaret Holt, Mrs. Edward Zinnel, Mrs. Oscar Oppedahl, Mrs. Percy Watnem, Mrs. Loren Daniel, Mrs. Louis Jacobson, Mrs. Howard Hellickson, Mrsi Ralph Jacobson, Mrs. Knut Oppedahl, Mrs. Donald Usher, Mrs. Howard Thompson and from West Bend Mrs. Arthur Banwart, Mrs. Irvin Mogler, Mrs. Eli Gerber, Mrs. Noah Gerber and Mrs. Minnie Bruellman. Mr. Gress is employed at Dodgens and they will move to Humboldt. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Frohling and family attended graduation at Eagle Grove of Brian McCollough, a nephew. Bible school began Tuesday morning May 31 for two weeks at the Lutheran church. The Presbyterian young folks will have Bible school for one week beginning June 6. Teachers' will be Mrs. W. E. Hundertmark of West Bend, Mrs. Alfred Schultz and Mrs. Albert Thorsen. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Banwart and family and Mr. and Mrs. James Banwart and family attended the wedding of the women's sister, Kathy Koehl and Wayne Fehr of West Bend, Saturday, May 28 at 3:00 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. 0. Koehl at Hancock, Minn. Mrs. Helen Thacker went to Osage Saturday and returned home Wednesday. Her son Robert graduated from high school. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Toftebefg, Harlan and Dallas and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wehrspann and Roger helped the women's father, Mike Hinz of LuVerne celebrate his eighty - eighth birthday. Verne Waechter trucked his tractor to Cherokee Sunday where he helped his brother Lyle dig a basement for their new hillside home. Ruth Usher was graduated from Iowa State University Saturday. She received a B. S. degree in dietetics. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Usher attended the graduation ceremony, Irvington Ideals The regular meeting of the Irvington Ideals 4-H club was held at Kathy Bernhald's on May 21. The meeting was called to order by president Carol Stebbins. Demonstrations were given by Sharon Hix and Denise Jenkinson. This meeting was the Mother's Day Tea and good grooming contest. Miss Illg Graduates Mary nig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dig of St. Joe, was among the young women graduates of Mount St. Clare College, Clinton, la., May 28. NEED OFFICE SUPPLIES? We have them. ANOTHER THERMOGAS POWERED LP TRACTOR, A FARMALL 300, WAS IN USE IN A DISTANT FIELD AT THE TIME THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN. MR. RICKE'S 300 WAS ONE OF THE FIRST LP TRACTORS IN OPERATION IN KOSSUTH COUNTY, HAVING BEEN PURCHASED IN 1956.
