Gossett, Santa Fe Land Department Agent passd through the city today on his way to Pittsburg. by a tramp Friday night about 9 o'clock, near the little station of Melveru, 23 miles west of here. The tramp was stealing a ride on the train, and, after being ordered off by the brakeman, turned and fired a wicked shot at the brakeman's head.

The ball of the pistol took effect iu the brakeman's right temple. The tramp then fled and up to the present time, he has not been found by the officers, who were immediately sent out in pursuit of him. The brakeman was a stranger, who was making the run that night for the recting any errors of refraction which may exist, and we. will do so at a reasonable price.
