Green team rave an awesome exhibition of offensive football yesterday at City Stadium as the keyed-up Indians removed all doubts about their pigskin pre-eminence In the Old Dominion with a 40-to-0 victory over their old rivals the University of Richmond's Spiders The victory kept the Indians' record of not having lost to a State team since 1939 intact and brought them still another Big Six championship The Spiders were the fourth Big Six team to fall victim to the crushing power of the Redskins Previously the Tribe powerhouse had steamrollered Virginia Tech 49-0: 34-18: and VMI 41-0 40 points ran the total for the season to 347 high for the nation A crowd of 17500 big-eyed spectators looked on in amaze ment as the Green Tribe struck for a pair of touchdowns in both the first and second quarters and added single scores in the third and fourth periods The William and Mary touchdowns were divided between four Braves with Stan Magdziak passing specialist hurling three touchdown passes as he completed six out of 13 passes for a total yardage of 109 yards One of prettiest passes fell incomplete when Henry Blanc a wlrcglMck who ate up a lot of yardage of reverses dropped perfect touchdown "peg" in the fourth quarter Fullback Jack Cloud the Southern Conference's high scorer acre caught a pass from Magdziak for one touchdown and wheeled over his richt tackle for another Rnds Bob Steekroth and Marvin Graham accounted for the fifth and sixth touchdown as they grabbed passes from Magdziak for scores Vlne Effective But as brilliant as were the William and Marv harks they in the two teams yesterday The Braves ground out and passed for 19 first downs to Richmond's seven three of thosp coming In the waning minutes or the game The Indians had a net rushing yardage of 208 yards to the 83 and completed 10 nut of 25 passes for 18 yards and three touchdowns The Spiders eight completed passes added up to 108 yards more the Indians intercepted four Richmond passes ana ran them back for a total yardage fn 106 yards a compared to one interception for no runhack Longacre dirt a beautiful job ot kicking his first kick of the day slithering out of hounds on five-yard line whistle Blagdriak Takes Over Two minutes later Korczowski's shoulder was hurt' as he was hit by Fritz Laurinaitis for a one-yard loss cm the 50-yard ribbon Magdziak a remarkable faker and passer replaced Korczowski and proceeded to turn the game into a rout On the first play he shot a pass to Steekroth on the Richmond 36 and the Indian end sidestepped Fenlon and ran to the 11 before he was collared from behind by Mike Cocco the play being good for 39 yards Magdziak lost three yards as he attempted to run to his right and then Mathias dropped Longacre for another three-yard loss on a double reverse So Magdziak went back to the air Taking the snap he ran wide to the right stopped suddenly aimed and passed over the goal line to Longacre for a touchdown at 10 minutes and 10 seconds crushing block on Hodges Richmond's tackle Cloud hammered out a first down on the 34 Longacre on a reverse lacked a vard of another first down Cloud promptly moved the stakes to the 2l as he hit the line On a trap play Cloud faked a reverse to Longacre made a full spin and tore through a wide hole in the middle of the line to go all the way for the Indians' third touchdown Again Magdziak con verted the extra point Bernie Hofbainer fumbled on the kickoff and Hughes recovered for the Tribe on 27 Freeman in two rushes made a first down on the 15 but Mag-dziak's passes for once didn't find their receivers and the Spiders held on their 13 After Wil-boume had kicked Magdziak kicked back and Fenlon fumbled with Clark and Brown recovering for William and Mary on the 15 Black and Bruce ground nut a first down on the five Magdziak picked up a couple of yards at the line but LaLuna and Richard got Bruce a two-yard loss Longacre then powered his way over right tackle for five yards and a touchdown kick for the extra point was wide of the uprights and the score was 26-0 The half was rapidly running out when Richmond mAde its first first down of the afternoon LaLuna fired a nine-yard pass to Rosser but on the play the Indians were penalized 15 yards for unnecessary roughness giving the Spiders a first down on their own 45 On the second plav thereafter Sut-tenfield got behind Magdziak hut dropped long pass which was labeled touchdown The Indians staged two drives in the third period before they finally got their fifth touchdown at the 11-minute 45-second mark Taking the kickoff on his seven-yard line Longacre came tearing back 43 yards to Richmond's 44-yard line being dropped by Wilbourne the last Spider with a chance of stopping him Cocco Covers Fumble A 19-yard pass from Longacre to Mikula with the receiver later-ailing to Thompson was good for 19 yards and placed the ball on 25 Longacre and Cloud cracked away at the left side of Richmond's line for a first down on the 13 Cloud added two rards at the line but Longacre umbled as he was tackled and Cocco recovered for Richmond after a mad scramble for the ball on the 12 The Indians came right back after Wilbnurne's punt to move from their 43 to the 13 on Longacre's 24-yard pass to Poplinger and runs by Longacre and Poplinger With the ball on the 13 second and seven Laurinaitis got Longacre for a
