congratulations on the birth of a WFVE EOT THE JOuuJt By Nina Carter Tafcb' MIDDLEBURG One of the loveliest weddings of the season took place yesterday afternoon i when Miss Mary Welsh Dough- ijC erty of Woodley in Clark County was married to Howard Wood of Philadelphia The ceremony took place at 4 JO 5L in CUn- nlngham Parish Episcopal Chapel (Old Chapel) near Millwood the oldest Episcopal Church west of the Blue Ridge Mountains The old church made a beauti- ful setting for the ceremony which was performed by the Rev Claudius Shelton rector Only the immediate families and a few in- timate friends were asked to the i church but numbers of friends attended the reception at Wood- 1 ley the home of the bride's par- ents Captain and Mrs Graham Dougherty immediately after-1 the ceremony The bride entered the church with her father Captain Dough- erty who Is stationed in Kansas i at the Command and Staff School and arrived in Virginia on Sun-day for the wedding The bride wore a gown of ivory utin trimmed with old family lace The bodice had a square neck line with a ruffled collar of lace around it short puffed sleeves and full skirt ending in a train An exquisite lace veil came below the waist line over a tulle veil with a wide border of lace which fell beyond the bottom of the train The veil was fastened to her head by a coronet of lace and orange blossoms She carried an old-fashioned bouquet of gardenias and bavardia Mrs William Bell Watkins Jr of Winchester was matron of honor for her sister She wore an old-fashioned dress of white chintz sprinkled with sprays of blue flowers and made similar to the bride's gown with a ruffle of white organdy around the square nd a full floor-length neck line an Miss to of Of Is FM HAMMS JCnilA i Modern Diet Will Speed Reducing Exercise Program Of Great Importance Ida Jean Ka'n It Isn't necessary to poke alone with your slanmmg If you want to you can go ahead and get it ever with in record tune There's one thing about it reducing at a fairly fast clip does keep up your morale The new speed limit is three rounds loss per week and you can keep It up until you are down to normal This is in direct contradiction to the old theories It is the scientific diet that has changed thing Before the days of calories and vitamin concentrates you couldn't lose that fast and balance your menu But the science of nutrition makes it possible for the reducer to have an abundance of the essentials and lose by cutting the calories below maintenance level Of course it almost goes without saying that the reducer's diet must be adequate You cannot merely lop off calories without regard to vitamins minerals and protein for these elements are not on tap along with the excess calories that have been stored os fat Aside from the standpoint of protection there is another good reason for balancing the menus On adequate menus you do not get as hungry Unless the menus are adequate in minerals vitamins and protein which are necessary to the smooth functioning of your system nature calls this deficiency to your attention by making Iou hungry But if everything ended is included and there are plenty of stored calories to furnish energy you ran he satisfied on ery little food You have to give this plan a trial to believe It If you want to be a new woman in record time you will have to exercise some Exercise only slightly steps up your calone deficit to make you lose faster but the beauty of it is that it slims your measurements At first you have to take It it's like breaking In a new pair of shoes Five minutes daily is enough for a beginner But after your muscles re In condition you should be able to average 15 to SO minutes day and dip off one-half to an Inch a week from the waist tone up the thigh muscles and spruce up your posture The faster you reduce the more Important your exercise program becomes It replaces fat ith firm muscle which prevents sagging of the skin and tissues and enhances your feeling of well being It is particularly important to strengthen the abdominal muscles Balanced Diet for Fast Reducing Breakfast Calories Orange Juice half glass 95 Poached egg on enriched toast l-pat butter 130 Coffee clear 203 Lunrheoa Ground round steak on bun 200 Watercress and tomato salad (vinegar and seasoning) 25 Class of skim milk or but- Your most cherished knitwear is like putty in our hands We KNOW how to clean knitted fabrics how to restore their original beauty their smart the'r fresh colors!
