The examination of Wm Sawyer of Greene charged with causing the death of the Morrill boy was brought to a sadden termination in Lewiston Municipal Const Tuesday afternoon The remaining witnesses examined were Doctors Loring Pierce and Hill who testified thst the cause of death was typhoid pneumonia that this disease was not caused by the wound inflicted by Sawyer that brain was affected probably by the wound and excitement and that the lung trouble was a secondary trouble The testimony of each of the physicians was nearly the same At the conclusion of Dr testimony Judge Cornish remarked that it was useless to examine any more witnesses as the testimony of the physicians entirely exculpated Sawyer from cansing death His Honor ordered Sawyer to be discharged Aataual Sapper of the Medical Fraternity Dr B- Bicker the retiring President of the Androscoggin Medical Society tendered the members of the society and their ladies a reception and supper last evening at the De Witt House There were about seventy-five ladies and gentlemyn present After a season of social converse in the DeWitt parlors the company were invited to the dining hall where a very excellent supper was In waiting The tables presented a very attractive appearance All'the delicacies of the season were provided The host and hostess did the honors in a most hospitable and pleasing manner After the cloth was removed Dr Horr toastmaster was called on -and after brief remarks introduced Dr Ricker who gave a brief and interesting sketch of the Androscoggin Medical Society now in the eleventh year of its existence Dr ft referred in appropriate terms to the deoeased members Drs Kilbourne Wiggin and Harris Various toasts were then offered and responded to as fellows: The Medical Association by Dr Edgecomb who came to Lewiston twenty-six years ago Dr said there were then bat three physicians in Lewiston and five in Auburn There now thirty-one physicians in ou two cities and about fifty in the
