be- and aa the question has hoed asked what can be done regarding' some other place for burial the public will be Interested to learn that the grounds where the ball players have met- for the last few years In Listton Falls Is by its owners Goddard and Sylvester to he fenced for the purpose of a cemetery There are many people here in the village that have visited this place and know how It la situated but for the Information of those that have not been there I will say this Is one of those places that seem to be well adapted for a burial place It Is high enough to be dry and so situated that the best of drainage is maintained a fairly level flat with a find grove in near proximity also nearby a living brook where water could he taken with small expense when the demand requires It I understand the cemetery will be called Pleasant Grove In part because of the shady pine grove and also because It Is such a pleasant spot of ground There will he a road built from the street and as the yard from the street will be only shout the distance that the law requires It to be from dwelling places Its convenience will be appreciated by those that may In the future become Interested in living near the scene of the fire said he saw the bolt of lightning strike the building and In five minutes afterwards fire was breaking out all over the barn It burned up like powder and could be distinctly seen In Lewiston about two miles away An alarm was rung In at about 1130 Saturday night for a fire In a pile of rags in a shed on upper Park street The damage was smalt FUN AT UKE GROVE several protested votes and about fifteen minutes before six the committee with those whose right to v6tp had been protested adjourned to privacy of the kitchen to decide about them After due consideration they let all vote except two Arthur Shore who It la said has always been astfiunch Democrat and whose son-in-law swore that Mr Shore was a Democrat' Under these conditions the committee would not allow him the right to vote' The other was a German who' vrdftld not tell what his politics were is understood that about fifteen' or twenty Democrat voted at the caucus It was plain to be seen that dishonest' and dirty work was tried 1 but the committee was equal to' every emergency The result when announced was greeted with loud applause TURNER FOR CUMMINGS Six Delegates Elected in Turner Saturday Favorable to Mr Ou minings the field that being the Rev Cummings ticket -The caucus was presided over by Horace True The secretary was A 8 Ricker When the votes were counted it was found that 85 had been cast Of this number every one was for Cummings delegates not one vote being thrown for Googln men The delegates elected were as follows: Cushing Dr Watson Leavitt Waterman Sherman Bonney and' Emerson At an early hour in the afternoon it was voted to adjourn LOCAL politics It is now talked as though Shackford 'of Poland with the six del-gates from that town pledged to his support for the nomination of sheriff will be made the compromise candidate In the present unsettled state of affairs regarding the sheriff fight In the Republican party All the towns of the county have now chosen their delegates but Greene which does not hold its caucus until next Saturday Greene has however but three votes and which ever way It goes It cannot give a majority to either Shackford has Poland 6 and A Dwelley East Livermore 7 Seventy-one votes are necessary for a choice In the convention and no one has a majority If Mr Ctammlngs carries Greene he will still lack four votes of the nomination while if Mr Googln captures It he will stand at even terms with Mr Cummings Therefore It will he seen that Mr Shackford and Mr Dwelley with their thirteen votes hold the balance of power Just what change in the present situation will be effected before the Republican County Convention to be holden June 3 Is anxiously awaited The supporters bf Mr Cummings are still talking about the Lewiston caucus and believe that the protest to be entered at the convention against seating the Lewiston delegates will prove- effective The protest will be entered on the ground of fraud in the caucus Some of the leading politicians say that they believe the protest will be recognized by the county committee The matter is likely to be warmly argued on June 3d A Democrat who lz to the nomination of Marshal Wing for sheriff said last evening feel very well over the outcome of the caucus and feel sure the that the Lewiston delegation will he solid for the Lewiston DlitreMlaff
