Dorsey, who blended blues, ragtime and church songs into a creation he called gospel music, is dead at age 93.

The writer of such gospel classics as "Peace in the Valley" and 'Take My Hand, Precious Lord," died at home Saturday of Alzheimer's disease. Dorsey was a successful bluesman at an early age and a pioneer in black music publishing. But his invention of gospel in the early 1920s "went on to have a tremendous influence, not only in black churches but in all churches," entertainment attorney J.B. Ross said Sunday. Dorsey wrote more than 2,000 blues songs, including the 1928 hit, "It's Tight Like That," which sold more than 7 million copies.

But his main love was gospel, said his niece Lena McLin, and he contributed about 1,000 songs to the genre he created. She was born in Pern' Mo. on Rev. Robert Norns officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Worsham worked in the Dietary Department of Manteno State Hospital for 18 years. She was a member of the Star Baptist Church in Eldorado. She was born April 9, 1926, in Union County to Ben and Anna (Crowell) McRaven. She married William Francis Worsham.

He died March 8, 1985. Survivors include one son, Michael W. Worsham of Manteno; one daughter, Cheryl O'Cull of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Anthony and Andrea Worsham, Rochelle McCoy and Jamie O'Cull; two sisters, Janelle Gunter of Benton and Lora Rae Williams of Murphysboro; brother, Louie Williams of Vergennes; one brother-in-law, John Herring of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, two sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death. Dale R.

Mr. Prior was a retired coal miner. He was a member of Bear Point Free Will Baptist Church and the United Mine Workers of America. He was born March 16, 1916, in Tamaroa, to Marion and Nellie (Gilliam) Prior. He married Arcada Lucille Bates on Mav 10, 1937, in Sesser.

She died April 25, 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Woll and husband Bob, and Linda Zimmerman and husband David, all of Sesser; two brothers, Allen Prior of Gilbertsville, and Gene Prior of Tamaroa; one sister, Catherine Zoeckler of Pawnee, four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His parents also preceded him in death. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, St.

Joseph's Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and "Rocking and truck driver, having worked for the former Karsten (now Karco) in Carbondale. He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Makanda, to Harvey and Maude (Furlow) Messer. He married Lora Mae Quails on Sept. 13.
