LuVerne Lady At National WSCS Meeting LuVERNB - Mrs. WUliam Goetsch o f LuVerne has enjoyed a nice trip and high honor. She left by train from Perry, la., to attend the 25th anniversary of the Women's Society of Christian Service in the Memorial Coli- suem, Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Goetsch was the voting delegate for the Ft. Dodge District Women's Society of Christina Service representing 57 societies. Mrs. Lester Yeazel of Rockwell City, District president and Mrs. Donald Artman of Dayton, editor of the Conference News, were the traveling companions of Mrs. Goetsch. - o - Mrs. Bryan Stewart LuVerne Cancer Crusade chairman, presented the book, "The Climate is Hope," to the LuVerne library Wednesday, May 11. Mrs. Charles Hinz, librarian, accepted the gift. The annual Cancer Crusade Drive in Lu- Verne is reported completed by Crusade Chairman, Mrs. Bryan Stewart, with a total of $232.45. Workers were Frank Gronbach, Marie Jackson, Mrs. Jack Guy, Mrs. Anne Smith, Mrs. Ralph Davidson, Mrs. Richard Gronbach, Mrs. Harold Meyer, Mrs. Jess Jergensen, Mrs. George Studer, Mrs. Dale Zentner, Mrs. Laura Zweifel, Mrs. A. W. Dimler, and Mrs. Stewart. She expresses thanks to the workers. Mrs. Robert Hardcropf, Cancer Crusade chairman for LuVerne Twp. reports her drive completed with a total of $93.75 reported. Workers were Mrs. Gordon Hilbert, Mrs. Jim Mullens, Mrs. Robert Thule, Mrs. John Voss Jr., Mrs. Melvin Marty, Mrs. Lee Day, Mrs. Leonard Riley, Mrs. C. W. Hausewirth, and Mrs. Lawrence Miller. She also expresses thanks to the workers. - o - The first birthday of Lisa Joan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Elbert was celebrated in the home of Jier grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hefti. Other guests were: Lisa Joan's parents; brother, Joel; aunt, the Harlan Helms of Greene. In the evening, Lisa Joan was honored at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. August Elbert of Algona. Mr. and Mrs. AUyn Brink and Mrs. Bryce A. Wickett were in Ames to attend Veisha. They also visited their daughter and son, Rae Ann Brink and John Wickett, students of Iowa State University. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Arends Joni visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Arends in Williams recently. Mr. and Mrs. James Mallory and her mother, Mrs. Alma Madden, were joined in Ft. Dodge by their sister and daughter, Mr. and Mrs, Howard Boyer, Becky and David of Waukee, to observe Mothers Day. Wally Behn and children of San Francisco, Calif., visited with cousins, Mr, and Mrs. Durwood Burtis and family. Evening callers were her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goetsch of LuVerne. Mrs. Lena Hinz and sons, Herbert and Francis were Mothers Day guests of their daughter and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Miller of Ft, Dodge. Mrs, Clara Wolfs recent over night guests were her grand- daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Skaggs of Valparaiso, Ind. Mrs. Skagg was the former Roberta Murray, daughter of Mr. and M rs. Robert Murray of Crown Point, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Skagg left Sunday forenoon for Denver, Colo., where they expect to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Shirk are home after spending the past six months in Arizona. They were at Chandler and later in a mobile housing area near Phoenix. Since arriving home they were visited by their daughter, Miss Sally Shirk. Miss Shirk is with United Air Lines and lives in Washington, D. C. Guests at a Mothers Day dinner in the Thomas Carroll home were his parents, the Dennis Car rolls; brother, the Don Carrolls of LuVerne; sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Clark of Iowa City; his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Carroll; aunt Lucilla Carroll at Algona; Mrs. Thomas Carroll's mother, Mrs. Helen Toohey; her brother, the Monte Toohey family; and aunt Mrs. Rosie Hardcopf of LuVerne.
