Algona, (la.) Upper Det Moinet Tutsday, May 24, 1966 ten days to set up procedures for a city census here, as authorized by the city council last week. Special Census Awaits Leader Mayor Bill Finn said Wednesday morntng that a representative of the Federal census bureau was expected here within a week or The mayor said the city had no definite information on procedure and would await definite information on how to proceed. A similar special population census has just been completed at Humboldt. Social Security A representative of the Fort Dodge office of the Social Security Administration will be at the Kossuth courthouse in Algona, Thursday, May 26, from 9:30 a. m. to 12:30 to give help »* needed. CHICKEN A little chick in a batch of chicks at the Galen Hatchery, New Hampton, was born with four legs. Something to crow about; dual scratching equipment. CENTENARIAN Mrs. Martha Stringham, mother of Mrs. John DeWar, Cherokee, was feted on her 100th birthday in Cherokee by many friends who came to call the middle of May. On May 24, her birthday, she made the trip to Dows where there was another celebration at the home of another daughter. NEIGHBORS GOOD AROUND THE TOWN & COUNTRY Meet Harold Sabin Of Algona This week's Country Neighbor is Harold M. Sabin, who has lived on the same Kossuth county farm. all his life with the exception of four years during World War n when he was in the army, serving 36 months in the South Pacific. The farm, a 212-acre layout, is located in Cresco township. Last growing season, Harold had corn, oats, pasture and hay ground. He raises dairy cattle and hogs, and rates working with corn and hogs his favorite jobs on the farm. Harold, son of Mrs. Hazel Sabin and the late Harry Sabin, is a trustee in Cresco township, a member of the Presbyterian church here, the V. F. W. and Farm Bureau. He was born Dec. 26, 1919 at Algona and married Leona Bensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bensen, August 23, 1949. Leona is active in circle work of the Presbyterian church and is a member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary, Cresco Mother and Daughter's club, Riverdale- Cresco Friendly club and teaches fifth grade in Sunday School. She considers art work and trying new recipes as her favorite hobbies. The Sabins have two children, David and Peggy Ann. Harold has two brothers, Ronald, who also farms here, and Dwight, a Des Moines decorator, and a sister, LaVonne (Mrs. George McVay), Algona.
