Livermore selected two for Boys' State The Livermore American Legion Otto Field Post 415 selected Richard Zeimet, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zelmet of Bode, and William (Bill) Reding, 16, son of Frank Reding of Lu- Verne and the late Mrs. Reding, to represent Livermore at the American Legion Boys' State at Camp Dodge, Des Moines, the week of June 5. Richard is a junior at the Twin Rivers Community High School of Bode and is a member of the National Honor Society. His activities include football and golf and he 'Is a member of band, Mixed Chorus, Boys' Glee Club and the Student Council. He is also a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Livermore and is an active member of the C.Y.O. and church choir. Richard acts as bugler for the legion military funerals. Bill is the vice president of the junior class at Garrigan High School, Algona, and is a member of the St. Joe Catholic Church. His school activities include football, basketball, baseball. Council Minute* The City Council met May 11, 1966, with Mayor Finn and the following members present: Muckey, Andreasen, Elbert, Cook, Miller and Peirce. Absent : None. Minutes of last meeting were approved. H. Smith, Engr., with Wallace and Holland Engr. firm of Mason City, la., discussed with the council on the proposed 1966 curb and gutter project. Authroized the city to pay $100.00 towards the cost of extending the sanitary sewer on So. Minn, street to make it available for Mr. Dave Merryman new dwelling. Authorized the City Attorney to prepare an agreement between the City and E. L. Martin for the extension of the sanitary sewer on So. Hall street. Authorized the construction of the above sanitary sewer after said agreement is agreed and signed by both parties. Robert Bomgaars, representing the Algona Junior Chamber of Commerce, came before the council requesting permission to paint house numbers on the curbs in front of each home. Request was granted. William Studer was appointed to the playground commission. The council agreed to precede with a special census of the city. Mr. Lutz, regional director of the Bureau of Census, will be in charge of special census. The closing of Williams street from College to McGregor street was referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Authorized the city clerk to have prepared an agreement with • Everds Bros, for seal coating of streets, and to present agreement to the council at the next regular meeting for approval. Resolution approving the establishment of a Civil Defense Agency for Algona and Kossuth county was adopted. Petitions were filed in the mayor's office asking the mayor to call a special election to determine whether a T-V franchise should be granted to the Community TV Tower Co., of Algona, Iowa. On a motion moved and seconded the meeting adjourned. D. A.
