RECORDS Siren Report Mattoon police Tires valued at $500 were deflated early Monday morning at Diamond-E-Packers, 301 S. Lakeland. A driver discovered the two front tires on a semi-truck were struck with a sharp object. Police issued a ticket after an accident Saturday morning. Thomas E.

Jaco of 1513 S. 2nd was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after his vehicle struck a parked truck. Jaco, who was eastbound on Rudy In 1300 block, told police he fell asleep. The Jaco vehicle hit the truck owned by Jerry Brosam of 1405 S. Lawn in the rear.

Two vehicles collided in the 100 block of S. 17th Friday. An autombile driven by Clifford L. Lane of 317 Melody Lane was southbound on 17th when it- was struck by a vehicle driven by Max L. Sylvester of Taylorville.

Sylvester backing from an angled parking place, according to police reports. The Floyd vehicle was hit in the right front door by the left rear bumper of the Sylvester auto. Harold L. Dailey of 808 Lincoln was charged Sunday with battery. Dailey was arrested in the 1800 block of Broadway.

He allegedly caused bodily harm to Lee A. Muscott by striking him in the face with his fist. A Mattoon man was charged Saturday with state disorderly conduct. Robert W. Edwards of Marshall was picked up at 9:56 p.m.

at 115 N. 16th. He allegedly threatened bartenders with a gun in such an unreasonable manner as to alarm others. Eric T. Thoele was picked up Friday on a Moultrie County warrant for failure to appear in court.

Thoele posted $100 bond. A garage owned by Kenneth W. Lampe of 612 S. 28th was broken into sometime Friday night or Saturday morning. Entrance was gained through a door for a pet on the north side of the building.

Nothing was apparently stolen. Charles A. Veleke of Ashmore reported Saturday that someone apparently backed into the rear of his car while it was parked in the 1900 block of Maple. The rear taillight and a fender were damaged. Stacy A.

Womack of 110 S. 34th on Friday was the victim of a hitand accident. Womack's car was struck in the left rear while it was parked at his residence. Hospital Notes A motorcyclist from Humboldt was released from Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center on 1 Saturday after being struck by a Mattoon motorist on Friday. Tony T.

Whitehead was southbound on Lake Land and attempted to turn left at Tastee Freeze, 1900 Lake Land Blvd. She turned into the path of Wilcoxen, who was northbound on Lake Land. Edgar D. Stone of Marshall was backing from a parking space and struck a car driven by Wilma M. Colclasure of Sullivan. Colclasure was waiting in the drive-up window area. Juanita H.

Williamson of Windsor struck a car driven by Danny E. Shambarger of 1400 Edgar apt. 2. Williamson attempted to turn north onto 14th from Wabash' and hit Shambarger's car. Shambarger was northbound on 14th.

No tickets were issued. L. Max Sylvester of Taylorville was backing out from a parking space in the 100 block of 17th Street on Friday and struck a car driven by Clifford L. Floyd of 317 Melody Ln. Floyd was southbound on 17th when the accident occurred.

"Packie" McFarland, 88, of Greenfield, formerly of Mattoon, died Monday (Oct. 30, 1983) in Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield. Mr. McFarland was a retired master mechanic for the Boston Maine Railroad, Fitchburg Division. He worked for several railroads before joining the Boston Maine in 1927.

He became master mechanic in 1942 and held the post until his retirement in 1960. Born in Mattoon, Mr. McFarland attended schools in Mattoon. He was an Army veteran of World War serving two years in France with the 31st Engineers. He was a 67-year member of Mattoon.

Masonic Lodge 260 and a member of Second Congregational Church in Greenfield. Survivors include the widow, the former Lucretia B. Brown; a son, H. Daniel of Indianapolis, four daughters, Patricia Fritz of Charlemont, Caroline Barra of South Hadley, Nancy Lyman of Belleville, and Harriet McFarland of Greenfield; a brother, Howard of Champaign; a sister, Mrs. Earl Ross of Mattoon; 11 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

A private funeral was held at McCarthy Funeral Home in Greenfield with burial in Green River Cemetery. FRANK SIMMONS MATTOON Frank G. Simmons, 71 of Harrisville, R.I., died Oct. 6 in Harrisville. He was born June 1, 1912, in Lawton, a son of Earl and Frances Dodson Simmons.

He resided in Mattoon for several years and was employed at Peterson Park. He moved from Mattoon to Kingston, and from there to Harrisville about three months ago. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Eva Boudreaux of Harrisville. The funeral was held at the Corrigan-Brown Funeral Home, Harrisville, with burial in Pascoog Cemetery.

DOLLY JEWELL HUME. Mrs. Dolly Jewell, 56, of Hume died at 1 a.m. Monday (Nov. 7, 1983) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiseman of Charleston. Her body is at Joines Funeral Home, Newman. Arrangements are incomplete.

GEORGE MARKWELL GREENUP George Markwell, 95, of Greenup died at 8:45 a.m. Monday (Nov. 7, 1983) in Cumberland Nursing Center, Greenup. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bishop Funeral Home with burial in Greenup Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. Mr. Markwell was born Jan. 10, 1888, in Cumberland County, a son of Watson and Martha Weaver Markwell.

He married Mable Dillier in January 1917. She died July 7, 1982. Surviving are a son, Loren of Lucille Greenup; Walden two of Hidalgo and Mrs. Helen Kibler of Mattoon; six grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren; and 'two greatgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Hayes, 76, of Oakland died at 12:50 p.m. Monday (Nov. 7, 1983) in Hilltop Nursing Home, Charleston. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wortham Ceme- WILLIAM HAYES OAKLAND William Lloyd tery near Leitchfield, Ky.

Taber Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Mr. Hayes was born Jan. 21, 1907, at Leitchfield, a son of William and Lula Lasley Hayes.

He married Mary Decker. She died in 1969. He is survived a sister, Lillie Golladay Ashmore; and two nieces in Charleston. Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

VESTA DARE Vesta Dare, 85, of Arthur died at 5:05 p.m. Monday in the Arthur Home in Arthur. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 10, 1983) at Shrader Funeral Home in Arthur with burial in Arthur Cemetery.

Visitation is from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Dare was born Oct. 10, 1898, in Douglas County, the daughter of George and Mary Ellen James Harmon.

She married Caleb Dare June 23, 1918 in Arthur. He preceded her in death in 1971. Survivors include a son, Don, of Bradenton, Fla. One son and two grandaughters preceded her in death. Mrs.

Dare was a member of the First Baptist Church in Arthur. Oran Knight MATTOON The funeral of Oran Allen Knight was held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Rev. William Pruett officiating. Burial was in Dodge Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Virginia Barrow, organist, played "Beyond the Sunset," "Amazing Grace" and "The Lord's Prayer." Pallbearers were Charles Jackson, Michael and Henry Langland, Jerry Buffenmeyer, Fred Richter and Merwon Kelsey. Mr. Knight, 91, formerly of Champaing and Mattoon, died Nov. 2, 1983, in the Mattoon Manor Nursing Home.

Myrna Johnson MATTOON The funeral of Mrs. Myrna M. Johnson was held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the MitchellJerdan Funeral Home with Rev. David Innis officiating.

Burial was in Bell Cemetery. Mrs. Polly Hamm sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Amazing Grace." Mrs. Inez Hamm, organist, played "Good Night, Good Morning" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Hezzie and Denny Bariether, James Robertson, Charles Sampson, Tom Pape and William Gebhart. Mrs.

Johnson, 72, of 909 Stinson died Oct. 30, 1983, in her home. Krimmel Services MATTOON The funeral of Harold Walter Krimmel was held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the MitchellJerdan Funeral Home with Rev. William Burroughs officiating.

Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg, Ill. Mrs. Virginia Barrow, organist, played "Ivory Palaces," "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Precious Memories." 3, 1983, in Burnham Hospital, Champaign. Niemeyer Services MATTOON The funeral of Mrs. Helen W. Niemeyer was held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Rev.

William E. Duey officiating. Burial was in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Virginia.
