To the Ottawa Patrons: Today closes my duties as superintendent of the Ottawa city schools. Whiie I have been with the people of the city and pupils of the schools, I have received the most courteous treatment from the one and the kindliest reception from the other. The beautiful tokens of affection that the teacher and pupils presented Mrs. Oliu and myself, give us loving ni-morialx of Otaw nnd our friends here. Now, wnervr I go, I shall keep ''Ottawa time." My work in the school has been planned to do three thiugs: To develop thoruugbuass iu the grades and thus pro iuce satisfactory scholarship in hitfh school, to make individual promotions possible at any time that the pupil's work merits it, and to inspire au active, i-nercetic, euthusiHsiio school spirit in every child vomited in school.

Presson, who was in Osage over Sunday; furnishes the Herald the following additional facts concerning the Doty tragedy, which was reported in this paper last night: A. D. Doty and his wife who were the victims of the terrible tragedy in Osage county last Saturday night lived one and one half miles northeast of Lyndon. They had one child aged near two years, and the mother and sister of Mrs. Doty living with them.

Domestic infelicity had prevailed for some time previous and culminated by Doty entering the home between 7 and 8 o'clock Saturday night and assaulting the wife and threatening her sister who was about twelve years old. Doty carried a gun andwith it struck his wife on the head, crashing the skull, from which woandshe died at 12 o'clock Sunday night. When Doty attacked his wife, her little sister escaped through a window and fled screaming for help. Her cries reached the ears of her brother, who was on a horse near by, and he, on reaching the house, found his sister weltering in a pool of blood and unconscious. She never regained conoionsnees.

Doty made good his escape before any one arrived, but officers and a possee were soon in pursuit.
