While comes to Liberty from Dallas, where he served as sergeant since March 1973 He previously was assigned with the department's Drivers License Service in Houston and with the Texas Highway Patrol Service in Angleton and Lufkin His current assigned area will include Liberty and San Jacinto Counties, with a staff of 12 troopers White is married and has four children. I Corkill Named Managing Editor Of Liberty Vindicator Liberty Vindicator editor and publisher Ernie Zieschang this week announced the addition of Lee Corkill to the Vindicator news staff Corkill assumed the position of managing editor last Friday Most recently. Lee has been publications editor of USA News, a companywide employee magazine with 50.000 circulation Headquartered at Houston. Texas office, he also wrote news releases, speeches, and articles for other company publications. Also. Lee produced booklets and brochures Corkill received his A degree in English Literature in 1950 from St University in San Antonio.

In 1959. he completed work on his masters degree in Journalism at Northwestern University in Illinois He has worked as a reporter for the Lewiston. Idaho Daily Tribune, and for the Evanston, Illinois Review A former instructor of Journalism at the University of Idaho, Corkill has served as editor of the LEE J. Trinity Basin Bill Will Support River Navigation President Fordhassigned the Public Works Appropriations Bill which included some $20,000,000 for water resource projects in the Trinity River Basin, among them $170, 000 for operation and maintenance of the Trinity navigation channel between Anahuac and Liberty. The bill calls for construction to begin on two new flood control and water supply lakes in the Trinity basin during Fiscal Year 1975. Some $3-millionwas allocated for the initial construction phases of brey Reservoir which will be built near Denton Aubrey Lake will serve as a water supply source for the Cities of Dallas and Denton and will improve the flood control measures along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River Some $2 5-million was earmarked to begin construction of Lakeview Lake Lakeview will be built in Dallas, Tarrant and Kllis Counties to provide flood control in the Mountain Creek watershed and along the main stem of the Trinity River It will also serve as a water supply source to the area The appropriations come after more than 125 residents from the 17-county Trinity River Basis traveled to Washington in April to testify before com- mittes of the House of Representatives and Senate on the need for the water resource projects Also included in the bill was $650,000 to continue the design of the flood control measures included in the comprehensive Trinity (Continued On Page 2) County Sets Election On Drainage District The feasibility of a preliminary survey for a new Vie III Sheriff Liberty County Commissioners Monday approved several changes of personnel in the Department These include Kenneth (Catfish)Shivers moving from dispatcher to deputy sheriff and the hiring of John A Hardy as dispatcher.

The Court accepted the resignation of James Curl as deputy sheriff. Curl has taken the post of deputy sheriff in Chambers County The personnel changes this week followed the approval by the Court last month the transfer of Roy Dennison from dispatcher to deputy sheriff ill KENNETH SHIVERS ROY DENNISON JOHN A HARDY drainage district in Liberty County was approved Monday by the county commissioners and an election on the project was set for Saturday, October 19. The proposed drainage district, with ultimate cost estimated at $3,500,000, is within the boundaries of Commissioners Precinct Number 3 with the exception of the corporate limits of the City of Cleveland. Rader, Texas Highway Patrol trooper investigating the accident, Ashworth apparently fell asleep while making rural newspaper deliveries about 5:30 a Friday.
