». I. D. AVAVAVW.V.VVAVVAW NEVER UNDERESTIMATE '•the power of a woman is an old slogan, and when the dames get their dander up mere man better head for the hills, and fast. Out in Denver and a couple of other places the women got het up over the prices they had to pay for food. The old man just didn't give them enough budget jtb cover what they had to pay. 'And besides he probably growl- id at hamburger when he want- lid steak. So the women started & i boycott and whooptedo and the super market managers, being experienced in dealing with women did what came, naturally ~thcy chopped prices. Plow long it'will last is another matter, for no super market can lose money. But in the meantime they're probably eating higjier on the hog than before. Trouble is they might get a taste for T-bones on a hamburger income. HEY NOW — the girl, arc 'getting in • diizle ov«r th* < new paper dresses. They wear .thorn a couple of times *nd > oops — into the watt* has- ,ket they go. Many a man has (heard that old moan "I hav- •en't a thing to wear" with a 'closet stuffed with dresses. 5 Now maybe it'll be true. It is /'said the dresses can be clean* ed once — but after that watch out— things get pretty exciting when one is worn after three washings or however they are cleaned. Reminds the Old Goat of that oldie song — about a Papar Dolly for his very own— because he couldn't get a real live girl. Sad song. Anyway a lot of women who think dimly about wearing an outfit too long will brighten up at paper dresses. ' • UMPIRES WILL HAVE guards in a California town's.Little League. Alter watching some of the parents at a Little League it sounded reasonable 1 to: the Old Goat. However 'in this case that wasn't the reason. Seems the umpire volunteers were convicts who were trustees out of prison, and guards were assigned by the warden. Just the same—maybe some kind of a guard or disguise would ba proper for Little League umpires. THERE'S A GOOD CHANCE the Old Goat has picked up a new pet hate on the What's My Line show, This Susie Knickerbocker is beginning to grind a bit on the Old Goat's '; nerves. She's also a columnist on a New York newspaper 'which makes her suspect to start with—not because she's a columnist, but because she's a woman columnist. Get the 'distinction? Anyway John Charle* Henry Etc. Daly looked a bit threadbare Sunday 'night with his wrinkles showing. Looked almost as bad as Nixon in that famous debate. 4-ALOONA (lew*) ADVANCE THURSDAY, OCT. 20, 196* Fairville host at fall rally for Leaguers Fen ton: Walther Leaguers of St. Luke's Lutheran church at Fairville are making final plans for the Fall Rally of the Walther Leaguers of the Algeria Zone. The Baases are Mrs. Bellinger's aunt and uncle. DATE CLASS PLAY The junior class of Sentral high school will present the three act comedy, "All In The Family", Friday, Nov. 4, in the Sentral gymnasium. The Sentra high school choir, under the direction of Mr. Zwiefel has started a Madrigal for this year. The Madrigal has a very colorful background. It was started around the IGfch century as a group singing mostly popular songs. In those days, they were comparable to our modern "swingers" such as the Beatles. But instead of staying in this line, the Madrigal has become known as the predecessor of the Opera. The plans at present for the first public performance will be a cantata entitled "0 Beloved Shepherds" by Andrea Hammerscihmidt. Sunday guests of the Arnold Hantelmans were the Bud Bergs, New Richland, Minn. Jean Kii.ii- kel, Algona, and Bill Hassel, were also dinner guests. Afternoon callers were the Norman Bellingers, ^aU-'fuv^-.',: \-. ••',,.. The Fenton Woman's club met Oct. 11 at Mrs. Arlo Ranney's with Mrs. E. C. Weisbrod co-hostess. Sixteen members answered roll call. The program committee was Mrs. Ed Meyer and Mrs. Hans Baiago. The topic was Cooking for One or Two. The November meeting will be at Mrs. Hans Baago's with Mrs. W. E. Laage cWiostess. Sunday guests of the Arnold Hantelmans were the Bud Bergs New Richland, Minn.
