B. JDNES PASSES It? ITM OF MS James B. Jones, president of William Woods College, Fulton, Missouri, died Wednesday at six p. at the home, of his mother, Mrs. Julia A.

Jones, at the old home near Bethania. Mr. Jones was 65 years old last April. At the breaking out of the civil war he was with his grandmother near Martinsville, superintending the farm and slaves of his father, Dr. Beverly Jones, and under the laws of Virginia could have remained upon the farm and shunned the civil war.

Its honors and hardships, but he said duty called him to the front. So at the age of 17 years he volunteered and joined Major R. E. Wilson's battalion. 21st N.

C. State troops. He served through the war without injury, and was in the fights around Petersburg, at the blowing up of the craters. He stacked his arms with Lee at Appomattox, walked to his home at Bethania, N. and there the war ended with fata.

Young, vigorous and ambitious, full of hope for the rutujje, he connected himself wJth the-'Hsclples under the preaching of the late lamented and God-fearing man, Virgil E. Wilson, then turned his face westward, securing by his energy and economy sufficient funds from his employment to graduate himself at the University of Kentucky, and while pursuing his studies at the University, he chose the ministry as a profession and work.
