and Mrs. Stanley J. Finch of Orem. 4 Benjamin offices or on committees during their 50-year tenure. Featured speaker of the evening was Jack Leifson, member of the Spanish Fork City Council and a teacher at the Spanish Fork High School.

"I am speaking to a group of 'squares' tonight," he stated in his opening remarks. He continued by describing his audience as the type of solid citizen whose record shows strong faith and belief in "principles of Americanism and Democracy on which our great nation was built and continues to 'unction." He concluded his address with an earnest plea for "answering America's need for more of this kind of 'squares'." Also heard during the evening was the winning address by Mary Carol Roach in the post's recent oratorical contest under the title of "The Constitution-Guardian of The People's Rights." Miss Roach was presented the first prize award of a $50 savings bond. The second place award was then presented to Bryan Money, and the third place prize to Charles Davis. Special musical entertainment for the evening was provided by an ensemble from the Spanish Fork High School, whoso members were, Sherry Tuckett, Karen Keyte, Jay Jolley, and Steven Dudley. The food was prepared and served under the direction of Mrs.

Francis (Jackie) Belders of the post's auxiliary unit, aided by the girls of the Junior Auxiliary uni. Special guests included department and district officers of the legion and auxiliary. Karen I-undell, Francis Ann Lumlell and Dor-thea Hawkins were chosen to be members of next year's pep team. Carol Richardson will be a member of the color guard.

1st Lt. Terry M. Zupan, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R.

Zupan of Heber City, was appointed to his present rank by direct commission while serving with the ICth Aviation Battalion in Germany. The newly commissioned officer, who previously held the rank of chief warrant officer, is an aircraft maintenance officer of the battalion. He entered the Army in 1966, was stationed in Vietnam before arriving in Germany in September 1968. He holds the distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal and 28 awards of the Air Medal. The lieutenant was graduated from Wasatch High School in 1960 and from Carbon College in Price in 1964.

u) Miss Orem Pageant Slated for April 20 SPRINGVILLE Tennessee Williams' "The Glss Menagerie," and the musical "Oh, What A Lovely War" will be presented March 26 and 27 at Springville High School by the Montana Repertory Theater. "Oh, What A Lovely War," a show with the format of British vaudeville, will be presented on March 26, at 8:15 p.m. The play is based on letters, diaries, and songs from World War I. Its title comes from the famous drill song the English use to count cadence. Time Magazine called it "tne most important theatrical event of the decade." Montana Repertory Theater's production features innovative lighting techniques.

"The Glass Menagerie," to be presented March 27, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., examines a young poet's problems in St. Louis during the depression. This production features Marrian Walters, who has appeared on Broadway, Roger OeBoourg, a Mr. and Mrs.

Kenneth B. Peay and sons, David and Danny, met their son and brother, Kenneth Brent Peay, at the Salt Lake Air port last Friday. He returned from an IDS Mission to Ontario Canada. OREM The annual Miss Orem Scholarship Pageant has been scheduled for April 20, it is reported by Ernest Evans, president of the Orem Boosters, sponsors of the Summer Festival and the pageant. Committees are being appointed to handle details of the celebration.

Boosters have recommended that this year's Summer Festival parade be held on July 18. Last year the parade was held after July 24, and the committee had difficulty getting bands to participate. Boosters officers told city officials recently that the parade date conflicts with American Fork's parades, which are scheduled for both morning and evening on that date. Theme of this year's celebration will be "There's More of Everything in Orem." Johnson ffFf Mm Mr. and Mrs.

Goron Knudsen of Provo spent Sunday in Idaho Falls, mingling with family members at a dinner and gathering honoring the Knudsen 's nephews, Rick Call, who recently returned from Bolivia and his brother, Joe Call, who is leaving soon for a church assignment. Mrs. Vivian Harrison, Provo, returned home during the past week after an extended visit with family members. She and Mr. Harrison, had driven their daughter, Mrs. Frank E.

(Edna Merry) Wilcock, and her new baby to their home in St. George, following the Provo birth of the baby. While there, the family was joined by another daughter, Mrs. Leon (Evalo) Blackley, from San Diego, and her family. When they returned home, Mrs.

Harrison accompanied them and spent another three weeks visiting there before her return. Mrs. Hazel Richardson has returned home after spending three weeks with her son, Eldon, and his family in Excondido, Calif.
