JOE - Mr. and Mrs. Dale Weber of Humboldt, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Sandra Kay, to Donald E. Becker, St. Joe, son of the late George and Ida Becker. A May 14 wedding is planned. Miss Weber is employed at the First National Bank in Humboldt Mr. Becker is with the Becker Construction Co., St. Joe. Also a plant or bulb exchange. Mr. and Mrs. Olie Frendahl of Algona were Monday visitors in the Victor Fitch home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Trenary, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Trenary, Kenneth Trenary and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Becker attended the funeral of Elma Mulligan Monday in St. John's Catholic church at Bancroft. Mrs. Mulligan was a sister of Mr. Bill Trenary. Mrs. Betty Miller and family and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Becker were Sunday evening visitors in the Tom Trenary home. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Fitch and Judy and Mrs. Richard Grosser and baby went to Rockwell Saturday where they visited and were dinner guests in the Chester Fitch home. Mrs. Roscoe Stewart and daughter, Mrs. Russell Henry and Julie of Jewell, called at Pat Rasmussen home Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Harms went to Iowa Falls where they visited relatives. They visited the Tony Ites and were Sunday supper guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Puttkamer at Alden. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Steven and Mrs. Bernadine Opheim and family left April 13 for Indiana where they attended the wedding of their daughter, Jean, to John Mason. The wedding took place Saturday at 2 p. m. at Carlisle, Ind. Mr,'and Mrs. Steven and Mrs. Opheim and family stayed in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Steven, They returned home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Marlow and family and Mr, and Mrs. Wayne Eckels were Sunday supper guests in the Bernard Meister home in .honor of the baptism of the little son, Bret Dennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Meister, The baby was baptised Sunday In SI. John's Catholic church, Bancroft. David Rasmussen spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Rassmussen. David attends Simpson College atlndlanola. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Trenary were Sunday dinner guests in the Floyd Duncan home at Fenton. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Davis of Burt were Sunday dinner guests in the Jesse Harms home. "Where you go hereafter depends largely on what you go after here." BARBER Dennis Hurley, who has been a barber in Laurensfourdecades, retired this month at age 72. He started cutting hair when he was 12 and has had a shop in Laurens since 1926. I Council Minutes The City Council mat April 13, 1966 with Mayor Finn and the following council members: Muckey, Andreasen. Cook, Miller and Peirce. Absent Elbert. Peirce, Mayor Pro Tern.,open, ed the meeting in the absence of Mayor Finn. Minutes of last meeting were approved. Authorized the City Clerk to attend aFinanceOfficers meeting at Des Moines, la. April 21 & 22, 1966. Authorized the City Clerk to ask for bids on a 2 ton truck for the Street Dept. Letter from Algona Theatre was read concerning city license. This was referred to the Mayor to contact Mr. Grey, theatre mgr. Letter concerning Group Ins. for city employees was read but no action was taken at this time. Letter was read from the Northwest Iowa Mayors Assoc. telling of the agenda for the coming meeting to be held at Storm Lake, la. Discussion was held on the prospect of taking an official census of the city. No action was taken at this time. Authorized Richard Groen to attend a meter school at Council Bluffs, la. Discussion was held on the purchasing of the Masonic Temple lot at the corner of State & Harlan street for a parking lot. No 'action was taken at this time. Discussion was held on the feasability of cable or spat TV system for the city. No action taken. Council adjourned to an executive session.
