laiteroft school ii history ftancroft — The, school bazaar at St. John's school was a huge success Monday and proceeds topped the all-time high of last year. Grand prize of a beef quarter was won by Mrs. Frank Meyer of Fenton. Mary Beth Dudding, daughter of Rosemary Dudding, and Mrs. Leo Klein of Ashton, mother of Mrs. Ed Blocker, won the bicycles. ; Other prize winners were Hooked rug, Mrs. James Coady, Jr.; Pen and Pencil set, Diane Hellman; $10 permanent wave, Rosemary Oliver; Steam iron, Msgr. J. H. Schultes; Grill, Frank Schemmel; 7 Rosaries; Mrs. Al bin Menke, Screal DeGeeter, Ruth McCarthy, Mary Lieurance, Wilbur Fox, Catherine Rahe and Mrs. J. H. Menke. Painted picture, Mrs. E. J. Menke; Wall Rosary, Inez Len sing; Set of pillows, Martha Wolf; Quilt, Mary Lou Vaske; Doll buggy, Tom Reinsbach; and 6 turkeys, Carl Callies, Velma Nelson, Mrs. Ralph Cayler, Bill Hellman, Mrs. Albert McCarthy and Jim Vaske. Irvington By Mac McLean •', Steve Eischen, son of the Robert Bisohens, came Friday for the weekend with his parents. He attends St. Benedict college at Atchison, Kans., where he is a freshman. They left Sunday to return to Atchisoh. Mrs. Alex Eischen, St. Benedict, and the Raphael Fabers, of St. Joe, Went to Alta Vista for a few days with Mrs. Anna Bor- niann. Mrs. Bormann is a sister- n-law of Mrs. Eischen and mo- Sher of Mr. Faber. They returned Tuesday. Mrs. B. O. Davis and her mother, Mrs. Florence Colwell, drove to Britt Friday and visited the Lyle Pearces. Mrs. Marie Colwell, Algona, and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Florence Colwell, tlrove to Ames Oct. 8 and Visited the Neil Colwells. Neil is a son x of Mrs. Marie Colwell and grandson of Mrs. Florence Colwell. They returned on Sunday. The Victor Applegates, Ames, called at Lawrance Miller's Sunday. They were enroute home after closing their cottage at Spirit Lake. Mrs. Nell Potter, Algona, . accompanied them to Ames,' for a visit and with the Scott Moores. Mrs. Hazel Sabin and the Merrill Solomons Monday went to the McGregor .area and then north to Cresco, where they visited Mrs. Lloyd Solomon and other relatives. Hope to organize Bancroft Scouts Bancroft — A meeting which sponsors hope will help organize a Cub Scout pack in Bancroft will be held next Tuesday night, Oct. 18 at the Public school here. All parents of boys between 8 and 11 inclusive are urged to attend and parents of future scouts are welcome. The meeting will start at 8 p.m. with a district representative from Humboldt to speak.
