that complaint Believing that if the nature seat and tendency of this disease were correctly apprehended that a generally successful practice would certainly have beeu devised Having become thus impressed he gave himself up to the investigation of the subject aided only by his knowledge of the science of tbe human body and some years coustaut and laborious observation iu practice he believes himself to have arrived at a correct knowledge of the state of the human system which operates as the cause of dropsy iu all its usual forms Ilis view's in this respect are indeed quite different from the scholastic theory of dropsy though strictly pathological He feeu more aud more confirmed of their correctness from the superior success which attends the application of medicine according to his principles the last seven years he has confiued his ractice exclusively to dropsical subjects and as had the satisfaction to see his intellectual efforts crowned by the most happy results Ma ny persons during this period have beeu cured by his discovery who were despaired of both by friends and physicians and are now living witnesses of the truth of vhat is here stated Standing Uihs insulated with a remedy in his hand which he believes (aud iu this belief he is not alone) surpassed any thing known iu the medical world for the eure of this distressing malady be has thought proper for his individual benefit and for the benefit of thbse who may at auy time labor uuder this disease to exhibit his remedy to the world iu the form of patent mcdicioe In doing which be has no apology to oflfcr nor favor to ask further than strict justice Believing that the temedy here recommended only requires to he faithfully applied to give unparalleled satisfaction ho feels willing for his
