Algona, (la.) Upper Des Moine* Tuesday, April 12, 1966 Dugans Feted iere; Married : or 50 Years BURT - Mr. and Mrs. Jess Dugan, Algona, former Burt residents, were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary. Saturday, a 6:30 buffet supper was served at the Dugan home in Algona. Sunday, a family dinner was served at noon at the V. F. W. hall with 50 guests present. An open house, hosted by the couple's daughter and family, the Wm. Kellys and their son Wayne and family, was held from 2 to 5 p. m. at the Algona Presbyterian church. Approximately 150 guests were registered by two granddaughters, Kathleen Kelly and Nancy Ann Dugan. Greeting the guests were Dick Meyer and daughter, Algona. Dining room hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dugan. Mrs. Jerry Thilges was in charge of the gifts and cards. Mrs. Wayne Dugan acted as emcee for a program presented which included several vocal numbers by John Lovstad, a life history of the honored couple by Kathleen Kelly, and meditations by Rev. Walter Morz. Punch was served by Mrs. Robert Ohland and Mrs. Wm. Hughes. Presiding at the coffee service were Mrs. Ralph Strayer and Mrs. Donald Koppen. Waitresses were Ruby Murtha and and Mrs. Dennis Zumach. Kitchen hostesses were members of Mrs. Dugan's church circle, headed by Mrs. Dick Meyer. Elsie Behrends and Jess Dugan were married at Algona, April 8, 1916. Rev. F. C. Taylor officiated. Witnesses were Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Wm. A. Fitzgerald. The couple set up housekeeping on a farm near Algona, moving to the Frank Mann farm west of Burt in 1921. They farmed here for 20 years, then moved to the John Fabus farm. They farmed here until their retirement in 1959 when they moved to their present home. They are the parents of three children, a son, Wayne, Lone Rock, daughter Lu, Mrs. Wm. Kelly, Sioux Falls, a son, Ralph, Davenport. There are seven grandchildren. The honored couple received 50 red roses from the brothers and sisters of Mrs. Dugan.
