377A5 Worthington -G Meter Co 135A5 Jas Glow ds Sons 39A5 A1 Sturgeon 2X6 Decker supL etc' 955X7 Doermann-Roehrer Co 14373 Peoples NaL Bank 1844 Officers salaries 558X6 CONSERVATION CLUB STOCKING CREEK 7 The Lawrenceburg Conservation Club with the aid of Guard McAdams county conservation superintendent' placed a can of large mouth bass in Tanners Creek last week This Friday October 5 there will be two cans of small mouth bass planted In the same creek These fish are received from the state conservation department and Is a part of the splendid work carried on to make better sport in this state Every true sportsman Should affiliate himself with the conservation iclub A meeting win be held In the near future to elect officers for ensuing year MiX WARNING TO MOTORISTS Motorists are warned to drive slow whefi approaching the bridge crossing Hogan creek The work of Installing a new floor on the bridge is In progress and there is one-way thorofare One side of the bridge will be completed by the early part of next' week at which other hur- time work will commence an the 'side and rushed to completion as rledly as possible Well Known Contractor Assisting Mot-Ing Daughter nnd Family to New Homo When Accident Occurs A fatal accident which brought death to George Sykes age 63 a highly esteemed cltlsen and well-known contractor of Bright vicinity occurred on the highway between Cleves and Hooven last Friday morning The first tidings that came to Bright stated that: Mr Sykes had been seriously Injured Just a little while later the message of sadness came that he was dead Mr Sykes and son Clair assisted by Edwin Tisdale a son-ln-4aw were moving with an onto and trailer a load of furniture to the new home of Mr Tisdale at Hooven Mr Sykes was riding In the trailer and holding the furniture At a turn In the road the furniture tilted and Mr Sykea In his efforts to hold It In place lost hla balance and fell headforemost on the cement road and was fatally hurt Dr Culley was sum maned and MfeTSykes waa placed In ah ambulance headed for a Cincinnati hospital Death however came ere the start for the city was made and he was taken to his own home near Bright There was poignant grief and anguish occasioned hy this last home-coming of this good man to his Immediate family' and friends with tender sympathetic accord touching the heartstrings of all acquaintances to whom the shocking news had come He was a man among men of gentle mien fair and Just In all his dealings Whence had many friends who pay him tribute and attest their loss In his passing Funeral rites' wee held Sunday at the Bright Christian Church with an extremely large number of relatives and friends being present to attest love and sympathy Many beautiful Bowers also bore mute evidence of esteem Rev Titus of Hanlson Christian church was In -charge assisted -by Rev Gj Strong of the Methodist Church and Rev Thornhill of Harrison The interment was In the' family lot in the Gibson Cemetery I The tribute which follows was written by a friend of the deceased: can not say and I will not say That he Is dead! He Is Just away With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand j- He has wandered into an unknown land Think of tam as the same I say He is not he la just away" George Henry Sykes son of John and Julia Sykes was bom March 9 1873 and departed thls life Sept 28 1934 age 63 years 6 months 19 days' Members of his family! surviving are: two brothers John and James Sykes and one sister Mrs Eva Miller Haley His early boyhood days weT spent In the Bright community He was married April 23 1896 to Mlsl Maud Davis a successful county' teacher before marriage She died January 20 1905 TO this union two surviving daughters were bom Miss Gertrude Sykes of Harrison 0 and Mrs- lWard Simms of South Bend Did (hi December 24 1906 Mr Sykes was married to Miss Bertha Johnson To this union were borri- three children -Geo Lola and who with the stepdaughter Hazel completes the family circle who are bereft of a kind loving and thoughtful father He united With the Christian church early In Itfe and while he attended the Methodist Church with his family he retained his membership with!
