William Duffield, already an Eagle Scout, and Orlin Knutson, were named delegates to the National Jamboree at Valley Forge, this summer. Duft receive an Eagle Palm to add to his badge. An eagle effigy mound has been found on a farm near Boscobel owned by Dean Skold. Situated typically on a bench of land overlooking the Wisconsin River, the mound was probably part of a ceremonial center and used in religious rites of some branch of the Mound Builders who occupied Wisconsin 1,500 to 2,000 years ago. One wing tip curves around the stumps in the foreground the head is at the left, on a line with the barn, and the tail reaches to the trees at the extreme right.

Its outstretched wingspread is about 150 feet. Crawford County has many such evidences of the Hopewell culture, as well as of the more recent tribes of American Indians. This one can be seen from a town road just above the Skold farm along Highway 60 between Boscobel and Wauzeka.
