Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 3, at First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. Graveside service and Military Honors to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, Mo. Charles was born in 1919 to Leonard and Lillian Horn Baker in Kansas City, Mo.

He graduated from Blue Springs High and attended William Jewell College. During World War I1, Charlie served in the Seabees in New Guinea and the Philippines. In 1949 Charlie married Annetta Clatworthy. They had one son, William Douglas Baker. Until his retirement Charlie operated the Charlie Baker Portable Hammermill.

Charlie was a member of the First Methodist Church of Blue Springs. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Baker. He is survived by his wife, Annetta, of the home; son, Bill and his wife Kathryn of Parkville, nephew Robert C. She recently moved from California to Hartford, to attend school toward her degree in education. While living in Connecticut, she worked as a teacher's assistant for the YMCA. HATTIE E. BRUNSON Hattie Ellard Brunson, 97, of Lee's Summit and formerly of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from a.m.

Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Hattie was born May 27, 1911 in Griggs, OK to Jefferson and Nancy (Griffith) Ellard, the youngest of nine children. She moved to Independence and spent her entire adult life in the area. She married Don C. Brunson on April 28, 1934, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Brunson worked at Montgomery Ward and retired from Lake City Ammunition plant. In her retirement, she did volunteer work for over twenty years with the Salvation Army and the Sermon Center. Hattie loved to dance and had many friends that joined her in that passion. Mrs.

Brunson is survived by her son Ronald Brunson and his wife Shirley, her daughter LaNelle Brunson; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Age: 22 The girl who did it all: Danielle Sloan graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 2005 without so much as a to smudge her perfect academic record. She maintained her 4.0 gradepoint average at the University of Kansas and would have graduated in May 2009 with a double major in business administration and international business and a minor in psychology. While a full-time student, Sloan worked 30 hours a week as a care assistant at Children's Mercy Hospital. She also mentored a girl through Big Sisters and volunteered at a humane society in Lawrence.

She recently started training for a triathlon. But Sloan wasn't all work. She loved to get dressed up and go out with her friends. "She knew how to party and have a good time, too," her father, David Sloan, said. "She was the party girl.

The life of the party." A caregiver: At age 11, she stayed with her temporarily bedridden aunt for days at a time, babysitting her yearold cousin. "Danielle was not just any child," said her aunt, Barbara Kannady. "She worked. She cleaned my house, carried my son on her hip and bathed him. He was the son of Louis Bernard and Mary Katherine Lampson Comer. On November 21, 1962, in Kansas City, MO, he married Sandra Kaye Ball. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Wednesday at Hopewell Union Church near Versailles, with services following at noon.

Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. In 1961 he received his BS degree of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. Mr. Comer was part owner Holiday Pool Company in the late 1950s in Mission, KS, and worked for the General Services Administration in Kansas City until 1965 when he began his 25 year career at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Bryan and Barry, four grandchildren, Jason, Samantha, Adaya, and Jesse, two brothers James and David, and one sister Mary Jo Doores.

He was born on June 30, 1928 to William Dale and Laura Catherine (Alley) Croskell in Edgeley, ND, the youngest of 5. children. Bob attended grade school in Edgeley and later graduated from San Diego High School, San Diego, CA. Bob was united in marriage to Jean Parry in which they had three sons, Mike, Richard and Rob. His wife, Jean, passed away in May, 1972.

Randall O'Donnell, chief executive officer of Children's Mercy Hospital, said children loved Sloan because she was fully genuine. Almost every day, another child would latch onto Sloan, identifying her as a potential playmate, he said. In memory of Sloan, O'Donnell and his wife have promised to fund the construction of a new playroom at Children's Mercy and hang a plaque in her honor. Adventure and travel: Sloan loved to travel, especially if involved a beach, her aunt said.

Every Christmas, she took a cruise with her mother and brother. Brigette Schnake, her best friend since high school, said Sloan was so much fun to travel with because she could talk to anyone and make anybody laugh. The two traveled together to Bob was an original crew member for the Flying Tiger's based in California. He then worked for TWA in Kansas City, MO, as a flight engineer instructor, where he retired in 1990 after 35 years. Bob's retirement allowed him to expand his involvement with cattle, real estate and gave him the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and family.

Bob was a member of the Hoover Christian Church, Tarpa, TWA Heart of America Alumni, the 1.0.0.F Oliver P. Gentry and the Rebekah Lodge both in Gladstone. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Boyd and Jack and two sisters, Beth and Mary. Bob is survived by his wife, Ada of the home; three sons, Mike Croskell, Richard Croskell and wife, Cindy and Robert Croskell, Jr. all of Platte County, MO; grandchildren, Mitchell, Nicolette, Benjamin, Mikayla, Audrey and Corrie, 4 step-children, 22 step-grandchildren, and 13 step-great-grandchildren; nephews, Sam Croskell and Doug Croskell; nieces, Elizabeth Zonker, Nancy Neiman and Dana Smith, other relatives and many friends.

James was born April 12, 1962, in Letterman General Hospital, Presidio of San Francisco, CA. He attended Shawnee Mission South, Johnson County Community College and UMKC. James worked for the US Marine Corps as a civilian, EDS, and The Talmadge Group. He loved the KC Chiefs. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nadine Lenhart Dutra.

James is survived by his father and step mother, Jack and Judy (Humburg) Dutra, Overland Park, sister, Christine Marie Cross, Emporia, KS, step brothers, Brett Humburg, Washington, D.C. and Burt Humburg, M.D., York, PA, maternal grandmother, Doris Lenhart, Lenexa, KS, niece, Jessica Marie Booth, Emporia, KS. He loved a good meal, and will be remembered for his since of humor, living life, having fun and loving his family and friends. "We had such a great time together." And Sloan always had a story to tell. Her risky adventures are legend, O'Donnell said. By age 22, she had already gone bungee jumping, rock climbing, canyon jumping, daredevil skiing and sky diving. No stranger to hardship: In March, Sloan returned home from a skiing accident in Switzerland and learned that her mother had been diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. Sloan with her leg in a medical boot for six weeks spent months caring for her mother.

She held her mother during the last 12 hours of her life on June 3. Last year, Sloan's brother, Christopher, was shot to death in Kansas City, Kan. She and Christopher were very close, her aunt said, born only 13 months apart. Edwards, formerly of Kansas City, died on June 28, 2008, at the Pines Healthcare Center in Lansing, following several strokes over the past 19 months, Mrs. Edwards moved to Grand Ledge, in 2005 to make her home with her daughter, Janice Klos. Mrs.

Edwards turned 90 on May 21. She was born and raised in Harrison, A and moved to Kansas City in 1937. Mrs. Edwards retired as a credit investigator at Commerce Bank, downtown Kansas City, and then worked part time until age 76. She was also the former owner of Jody's Log Cabin in Northeast Kansas City and was known for her fried chicken dinners and biscuits and gravy.

Mrs. Edwards enjoyed cooking and sewing for many years and in more recent years, traveling. Throughout her life, her family and close friends always came first. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Willie (Billy) B.

Edwards; parents, Joseph and Myrtle Crebs; sisters, Katherine Morris and Marcella Rowland; brother, Eugene Crebs; son-in-law, Terry dear friend, Raymond "Stan" Stansbury. Mrs. Edwards is survived by brother, Lawrence P. Crebs of LaBelle, daughters, Janice C. Klos of Grand Ledge, and Marilyn R.

She was an Advertising executive for 30 years with the Merritt Ownes Agency. Later she worked for the Fritz Lisec Agency retiring 1988. He was born January 17, 1921 1 in Burlington, IA to Rudolph and Grace Levy. In 1943 he married Gwendolyn Morgan, of Kansas City, who died on February 14, 2008. He is survived by a son, Dale Levy, Jr.

and wife Linda of Bartlesville, OK and a daughter Jan Cope and husband, Robert, of Poplar Bluff, MO. His daughter, Gail Hines and husband Phillip, preceded him in death. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Navy pilot. A family memorial service was held at the Chisholm Trail Presbyterian Church in Yukon, OK on June 25.
