A. Overholser attended the reception given B. F. Baker at the home of his mother in Chadwick, Tuesday evening. Miss Flora Frederick has returned from jDixon where she spent several weeks visiting.

Lant Spencer, of LaCrosa, is visiting O. P. Smith and family. Miss Ruth Inman is visiting in Aurora this week. Bruce Fahrney spent Monday even ing in Polo.

Rev. F. L. Baldwin boarded the early train last Wednesday morning for Chicago, from which place ho took a through train for Colorado, where he will spend a few weeks recuperating his health. Herbert Rolhine, of Evanston, visited A.

L. Bigbce over tho Fourth. James Kelly is spending a few weeks with his sou Fred at Dysart, Iowa. Roy Durstino returned last Friday night from Iowa whoru ho spent several days visiting. Ho spent tho Fourth at Uysart, whero the fastest foot racer they had could only run in 12 4-5 seconds.

What a sausago if some of the boys from this part of the country had been there? Miss Laura Goshort visited in Stor- over Sunday. Rev. W. M. Morrison, who has been isiting at James Rood's for some time, eturned to Morgan Park last week, here he will resume his ministerial tudies.

Heitzman wore about to retire. Rev. Talley, in behalf of those present, presented tho host with a fine clock, after which refreshments were served and all departed declaring they had had a very pleasant time, and wishing the host and hostess many more years of happiness. We understand that Volnoy Chaffee has disposed of his entire stock of goods in Coleta, and intends moving to Milledgeville. Wo are unable to learn in what business he will engage.

Miss Minnie Burch, of 'Morrison, is visiting at tho home at H. J. Durstine. Mrs. Teeple, of Darien, and her daughter, Mrs.

James" Swiftoand children of Oshkosh, spending a couple of with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Noftsinger.

Miss Dilly Whitmore, of Lanark, is visiting friends and relatives in Milledgeville for a few days. O. Smith transacted business in Sterling last Tuesday. The Misses Winifred DeWitt and Gertrude Dawley, field secretaries for the University of Chicago, are in town organizing a club for the systematic Btady of history. A team of colts belonging to Lynn Fletcher, north of town, ran away one day last week and as a result, John Eastabrooks is suffering with a sprained ankle and Fletcher has a lame back.

Lynn says he will be a little more careful next time he waves-his hat behind a team to'soe whether he can frighten them into running away. The farmers in this section are busy haying. Wood Bro's. United Animal Shows and Circus is billed for MLlledgevillo, Thursday July 11. C.

Frank Anthony's office, and the arm reset. "Speckled Game" nine cf Davenport will be in the city tomorrow and will play a game with Gus Patera's Sterling nine in the afternoon at the Athletic Park. The Sterling boys are in better form than they were on the Fourth and expect to put up a much better game with their old antagonists. Baptist picnic yesterday was more than a success, it was grand. The dinner was unnsually sumptuous and was greatly enjoyed.

Almost all the little folks of the Sunday school were out, but the attendance of adult members was smaller than usual. Many visitors went out in the afternoon for a short stay. About twenty- five of the pleasure seekers walked over to the Perry and Strickler camp, about two miles, and had a very pleasant time with the campers.
