Algetic, (to.) Upper Pet Moinat Tuesday, March 22, 1966 Voters Give Big O.K. To West Bend School Area A West Bend-Rodman area school merger proposal was approved by a vote 592 to 11 last Tuesday. There was one spoiled ballot among the 604 cast. To be merged as of July 1 are the West Bend Community District, a portion of the Rodman Consolidated District, Fern Valley District (four sections) and about two sections of Whittemore Township District. According to Palo Alto County School Supt. William Young, the vote by districts was as follows* West Bend Community District: 457 to 5, with one spoiled ballot. Rodman Consolidated Dis trict:99to4. Fern Valley District: 23 to 2 Whittemore Township District: 13 to 0. West Bend operates a complete school system and Rodman has a school through the eighth grade. Neither Fern Valley nor Whittemore Townships operate schools. Host Of Meetings, Visits In LuVerne Community LUVERNE - Adult confirmation services were held Wednesday evening after the weekly Lenten service in the Zion Ev Lutheran church with the Rev. R. J. Mueller officiating. Confirmed and received as members were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Thomas and Mrs. John Bierstedt. - o Guests in the Harold Ristau farm home recently were their daughter, Mary Ann, Mrs. Kenneth Steilman, and Julie Ann of Marshall, Minn., and her friend Mrs. Karen Longsted, and Dona of Bode. Philip Fourage of Livermore, father of Mrs. Ristau, came with them. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kubly and family of Lake City, Minn., recently visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kubly. Larry is finishing the woodwork in the new home of his parents in the north part of LuVerne. Mrs. Kubly and children are visiting her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Rusher and family of Corwith. Their son, Kevin Kubly, is stay- ing with an aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Meyer, who lives east of LuVerne. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Lent and their daaghtef-in-law, Mrs. James Lena, the former Surie Blake; went to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., to spend the weekend with their son, James Lena, who Is In basic training, Miss Luelta Blumer was a guest of her niece, litre. Elmer Schnetzer, at the annual Guest Day of the Ladies Aid Society of the St. John's Lutheran church in Renwick. Mr. and Mrs. R. c. Walline had as recent guests Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Hoseks, Vernon and Judith of Fairfax, Iowa, and James Cook of Adel. Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer and two girls of Otho, visited in the home of his sister, Mrs. Lillian Selby and family, with their mother, Mrs. Laura Meyer of Ames, who was visiting in LuVerne. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bierstedt, their son, Mr. and Mrs. John Bierstedt and Brett, attended the farm sale of Ervin Ruhnke north of Whittemore. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ramus and Sheri were in Decorah, la., for the funeral of her uncle, C. P. Seim, 78. Mrs. Doris Kimzey has concluded her winter vacation spent with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce A. Wickett. They took her to her home in Milo, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Herman-Vaudt of Whittemore visited with her mother, Mrs. Lydia Lund. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kelling of Goldfleld were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kubly. Mr, and Mrs. Dale Zentaer were in Des Moines attending a wedding of friends. Mr. and Mrs, John 0. Cox were visitors in the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Heiter and family. The LuVerne Women's Society of World Service met Thursday, March 3, in the rooms of the Evangelical United Brethren church. President Mrs. Albert Schneider presided. Mrs. Andrew Marty led the devotions and presented the lesson stody assistsd by members of the society. Mrs. Edwin Hefti was hostess. The Ladles Aid of the Zico Evangelical Lutheran church met Thursday! March 3, with Mrs, LeRoy Hanaelman presiding. The Rev. R. J, Mueller led devotions, read scripture and offered prayer. Guest of the society was Miss Naomi Torkelson, missionary to India. Her sister, Mrs. Cecil Pederson, R.
