. With two weeks remaining be- tor* the close of the first per4 iodj a very close, race has shaped Up for the $600 first prize in' tne Algona Kdssuth Co. Advance subscription campaign. Mrs. George SachaUj Titonka, still maintains a slight lead for top position but is being pressed by Mrs. Donald Usher, Mrs. Agues Lickteig, Mrs. Howard Swanson and Mrs. Owen Curry. The next two weeks can make a big difference in candidate standings. 'With several running close it is anyone's guess who the winner will be. From now until Sept. 28 is the crucial per- iod .for the candidates because subscription votes Idse value after that date. Subscription votes after that time count for one half of their present value. The $30 bonus votes, $30 in subscription mbne'y, also'count less than half in the second period. Brisk business by any one of the candidates could mean a difference of several hundred dollars in prize money. As a result, candidates are making every effort to get as many subscriptions as possible paid in time to be turned in by Sept. 28.
