Battle to Be Renewed MADISON UR A biennial battle waged in the Wisconsin legislature since 1931 will be renewed this week when the assembly commerce and manufacturing committee takes up a proposal to repeal the state ban on colored oleomargarine. A second controversial proposal up for consideration would require motorists suspected of drunken driving submit to certain tests. A public hearing on the oleo tax repeal bill will be held Thursday afternoon by the committee headed by Assemblyman Eugene S.

Kaufman, D-Manitowoc. Seven major farm groups hava mdicated they will not compromise on their traditional opposition against oleo. But forces on the other side claim they have enough support to remove the Wisconsin last in the nation. TTae bill would permit the manufacture and sale of colored oleo in the state but would impose a five cent-a- pound tax on it. Another bill would prohibit the use of oleo in public eating places unless it was or served in triangular The drunk driving test re quirement will be taken up Tuesday by the assembly judiciary committee when it considers an implied consent Davis Proposes Name for Trail Rep.

Glenn R. Davis, New Berlin, has suggested that the southern trail in the recently ice age park in Wisconsin be named the Zillmer Zillmer, an attorney, who died last year, was the originator of the idea of the ice age national scientific reserve in Wisconsin. He lived in Wauwatosa. He often led groups of hikers on the southern trail in the Kettle Moraine forest. In a letter to the state conservation commission, Davis wrote: do not think it is necessary to sell the propriety of such a designation to members of the commission.

Zillmer was truly the father of the ice age reserve. He spent years fostering the project and as many years in promoting the Kettle Moraine proposal which is part of Gov. Warren P. Knowles' highway safety plan. Under the proposal, a motorist would be to have given consent to chemical tests of his blood, breath or urine for the purpose of determining alcoholic if suspected of drunken driving.

Other subjects scheduled for committee hearings include a resolution that would provide for the election of governor and lieutenant governor on the same ballot. The bill was offered by Assemblyman Elmer Nitschke. R-Beaver Dam, in the hope of preventing the political split in the two offices which has occurred in the last four elections. The proposal would have to be approved by two sessions of the legislature and in a referendum. The proposal will be taken up by the assembly elections committee at 2 p.m.

Wednesday. Also to be considered by the cpmmittee the same day is another resolution on a related subject. It would extend to four years the terms of assemblymen, state constitutional of ficers. sheriff, coroner, register of deeds, district attorney. surveyor, county treas urer.
