MISSION I POMONA, 622-2226J Oldest tree found in Chinese forest TAIPEI (UPI) A Chinese professor of botany claims to have discovered the oldest living tree in a virgin forest about 24 miles south of Taipei. Chow Hui-yen, a professor at the College of Chinese Culture in Yangmingshan, said the tree is at least 6,000 years old.

Names Fuhsing No. 1, the tree is 1,500 years older than the bristlecone pine in the Inyo National Forest in California, recently thought to be the longest surviving tree at 4,500 years old.
