Ajqono Konuth County THURSDAY, AU6. M, 1«M - ALOONA, IOWA - vance Ledyard school starts year on next Monday Ledyard—The Ledyard school will open August 29. On the first clay of school the busses will arrive at school at the regular time of 8:05 a.m. The bus routes will be the same as last year with the exception of Everett Thompson's route, which will be extended into the Grant township area. Hot lunch will be served on the opening day and busses will return all students at 2:30 p.m. Mike Lloyd, custodian, has re finished all floors and has done a considerable amount of painting at the school house. Glass block has been placed in tlie windows of the first, second seventh and eighth grades. The entire west side of the school now has glass block windows. Ihe faculty is not complete Teachers lor math, music and in dustral art are yet to be filled The faculty is English and dra matics, James Martin; science, Larry Nelson; social studies and drivers education, John Wood; home economics and librarian, Mrs. Oline Keister; Spanish and remedial English, Mrs. Alberta Busch; commercial, Lon, Maiher ok; guidance counselor for junior and high school, John Fokken; eighth grade, Mrs. Laura Henderson; 7th, Mrs. Irene Brandt; 6th, Mrs. June Beyer; 5th, half days, Mrs. Helen Nelson; 5th, grade half days and remedial reading, Mrs. Clarice Wubben; 4th, Mrs. Ada Wirbben; 3rd, Mrs. Connie Inglett; 2nd, Mrs. Florence Junermeier; 1st, Mrs. Lcora Brandt; remedial arithmetic, Mrs. Shirley Runks- mcicr; and art, Mrs. Marie Wilson. The hot lunch department will be under supervision, of Mrs. Dallas Green, Mrs. Aleta Waterhouse and Mrs. Mamie Roseboro. Bus drivers are Everett Thompson, Edwin Dontje, Earl Jorgenson, Raymond Gustafson and Byron Hoffman. The board of education consists of Ervin Klinksiek, president; Mrs. Wilma MacKinnon, sec.; Mrs. Ruth Carpenter, treas.; Harold Hcrzog, Mrs. Melvin Logemann, Maurice Keil and Aubrey Watcrhouse. A faculty workshop will be held Friday. There will be no school on Monday. Free tickets to winners for Demo dinner Free tickets to the Democratic campaign kickoff dinner were mailed Monday to the lucky winners. Merman Thilges and Oliver Elbert, Algona, Clarence A. Smith, Rode, and Gerrit DeWaard, Titonka, each won a free $5 ticket to the dinner. ( Governor Hughes will be the main speaker at the dinner at Garrigan high school in Algona next Wednesday, August 31, at 6:30 p.m. Congressman Stan Griegg will not be able to attend unless his duties in Washington permit him to spend the evening here. Whether or not he can get away during the week is unpredictable and is a day to day proposition. Despite his frequent trips back to northwest Iowa, Greigg has maintained a 98% attendance record in Congress. Senatorial candidate E. B. Smith is expected to attend. Tickets are still available from precinct committee workers throughout the county. There will be no tickets sold at the door. Former Ledyard man dies in Colorado Ledyard — Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist church in Palmer Lake Colo., for Elmer Anderson, for mer Ledyard resident He die* Saturday at a hospital in Colo rado Springs where he had beet\ a patient since March. Deafc was caused by cancer. He wa born on January 22, 1906 at Led yard, the son of the Gus Ander son's.
