Gretchen Looft Of Ledyard To Wed In June LEDYARD - Mr. and Mrs. Albert Looft of Ledyard, announce the engagement of their daughter, Gretchen, and Charles N. Moen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C, Moen, 423 Lacrosse, Wis. A June 18th wedding is planned. Miss Looft a graduate of Luther College, Decorah, la., is teaching in the Neenah, Wisconsin high school. Mr. Moen, also a graduate of Luther College, is a Sales Representative for Moen Photo Service, Inc. at Lacrosse. - o- DIVIS10N I RATINGS The following students received one ratings at the Grade School Music Contest in Mason City, Feb. 19; Daniel Beenken, June Marie Busch, Louanne Busch, Marilyn Dontje, Denice Klinksiek, Chuck Udstuen, John Koppen, Martha Wallentine, Linda Haag, Carla Engelby, and Jill Bauman. Robert DeYoung is Ledyard's school music director. Ledyard speech students, brought back four number one ratings from the District speech contest held in Lake Mills. Receiving the one ratings were Mark McCoy and Gretchen DeBoer in dramatic declamation; Phyllis Wallentine, interpretive poetry and Lyle Jorgenson in radio speaking. They will now take part in the state speech contest which will be held on March 18 and 19. James Martin is in charge of the speech department. - o* Mrs. Blanche Jenks of Clearwater, Bla., will be observing her 88th birthday on March 16. Jimmy Dontje, son oftheEldon Dontjes, observed his fifth birthday with a family party at his home. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mechler and boys of Titonka, Mrs. Grace Johnson and boys, and Mrs. Henrietta Dontje. Mrs. Dontje also spent the evening with Jimmy and his family. Mrs. Marie Halverson and Marvel attended the Golden Wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Gehardt sandness of Frost. Mrs. Sandness is a cousin of Mrs. Halverson. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marshall and Brenda of Estherville were weekend guests of her mother, Mrs. Alma Clehaus. Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Poppe, Jr. and Annette and Zada visited the Earl Jorgensons recently. Name Chairmen, Heart Gifts Dr. A. J. Herlltzka of Mason City, chairman of the board of the North Central Division of the Iowa Heart Ass'n., announces this week the acceptance of Mrs. Francis Mullin of the Farmers State Bank to serve as Memorial Gift Chairman for the Whittemore Community. Dr. Herlitzka announced simultaneously the appointment of Mrs. Harvey Mertz of West Bend to serve in a similar capacity for the West Bend Community. AJgona (la.) It was the 4th birthday of Jeff Holmes. Mr. and Mrs. John Cox returned last week from a 4 week vacation. They spent 2 days at Sunrise Beach, Mo., in the Mr. and Mrs. Les Fargo home. In Columbus, Ohio, they stayed a week with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gene (Janet) Hough and Lezli. From Ohio they returned home and then left by train for North Bend, Oreg., to spend 4 days with their son, John L. Cox. Mrs. Cliff Holmes spent a week with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Holmes, Ames. She took care of her grandson, Jeff, while he had the mumps. Art Leeks Of St. Benedict Wed 25 Years About 180 persons attended open house at the Trinity Lutheran church parlors here Feb. 27 for Mr. and Mrs. Art Leek. Their children were hosts and Mrs. James Bierstedt registered guests. Darwin Leek was toastmaster and Vlrgean Bierstedt served punch. Luana Leek read "Reminiscing With Art and Doit," with nieces, nephews and a granddaughter acting out their lives. patty Fraser and Marilyn Paetz were pianists. On Band Tour DENTON, TEXAS - Gary Resting of Algona will perform with the North Texas State University Concert Band during its 19th annual spring tour, beginning March 3.
