raped sodomized and threatened to kill his ex-wife Thursday in Olathe Ronald Hubbs 25 Kansas City Mo was charged Friday with two counts of rape and one count each of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sodomy Hubbs is accused of attacking the 21-year-old woman in her Olathe residence Thursday morning He was arrested in Clay County Mo Thursday night Det Joe Pruett Olathe police said Hubbs beat and raped the woman dur ing a 3-hour ordeal at her apartment in the 400 block of West Elm The woman who lived at the apartment with her 2-year-old son was taken to Olathe Community Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released The couple were divorced in April 1966 authorities said In addition to the charges filed Friday Hubbs was charged last month in Johnson County District Court with aggravated assault for threatening to kill the woman According to court files Hubbs used a gun to threaten her during an argument Dec 1 He was charged with that crime Dec 31 but was released from custody after pasting a bond As a condition of Hubbs into the house about 6 am Thursday Hubbs then raped the woman twice often brandishing a knife during the attack Pruett said At one point during the incident the woman ran bom the apartment Pruett said However Hubbs caught the woman and forced her back inside the residence Authorities said a woman saw the struggle between the couple but later told detectives she didn't call the police because she didn't think she should get involved After Hubbs left the residence about 9 am the woman called a friend who then called police When authorities were notified of the assault Thursday Jones issued a bench warrant because Hubbs violated the nocontact order Jones increased the bond from $3500 to $100000 At a hearing on the charges filed Friday Johnson County District Judge Gerald Hougland set an additional $100000 bond on the rape kidnapping and sodomy charges Hubbs told Hougland he afford to hire his own attorney and asked Hougland to appoint a lawyer to represent him Pruett arrested Hubbs in Clay County Mo about 6:30 pm Thursday.
