Several rogues have been arrested in New York charged with robbing the Porter of the Bank of Brooklyn of $25,000, which was taken from his pocket as he was proceeding from Brooklyn to New York some weeks since. 1 The expoit of specie from New York for the last seven days amounts to $209,254, viz: $222,000 to the East Indies, $33,400 to Europe, and to the West Indies. Ile is settled, it appears, on the banks of the Jumna, a branch of the Ganges, and has the control of a tract of land containing 5,600 with a village of 3,000 inhabitants. He says he is just as sure of making cotton there as on the banks of; the Mississippi. Labor is so cheap that cotton may be produced at half the cost of its Auction in the United States. The wages of a laboring man is $1,62 per month, lie furnishing his own subsistence.

The Montevideo papers of the 25th of April state that about three hundred and fifty citizens from Buenos Ayres had arrived in that city. The accounts the assassinations perpetrated there under authority of Governor Rosas are horrible in the extreme. Hundreds of citizens and many women of elevated rank hail perished by the knife and the dagger.

So general had the, murders been, that, except for an order of Rosas forbidding the wearing of mourntns, the greater portion of the People would have appeared in weeds for the death of some relative. After the executions, without trial or anv form of condemnation, the bodies of the victims were hurried to the cemetries, accompanied by a rabble shouting, fiddling and singing. One of the officia I assassins came to the British Minister and roughly asked him who fie was. On learning the Minister's position, the fellow retired, after significantly making a sign of cutting his? throat. The Minister then proceeded to the House of Ro and, with difficulty, obtained an interne lie indignantly informed the Governor of what had passed, and boldly charged bis Excellency with a knowledge of the transaction and with a sanction of all that had passed.
