Bahnson, 60, a Burt osteopath, was released under $1,500 bond after appearing before U. S. Commissioner Francis Tlerney at Ft. Dodge last Tuesday on charges of dispensing drugs without a prescription in bottles being mlsbranded while held for sale. Bahnson was arrested by the U. S. marshal for the northern district of Iowa after his Indictment by a federal grand jury in Cedar Rapids. Bahnson will appear in Federal Court at an unspecified future date. IVY PLANT A member of the ivy family is about the fastest growing plant its owner, Jasper Wilson of Ida Grove, has ever seen. The plant has grown 70 feet in the past two years from a four-inch pot which is placed on top of a kitchen cupboard. Council Minute* The city council met Feb. 9, 1966 in regular session with Mayor Finn and the following council members: Muckey, Andreasen, Cook, Miller andPeirce. Absent: Elbert, Minutes of last meeting were approved. Resolution accepting the low bid of $1600.00 by KossuthMotor Co. for a new police car was adopted. Resolution accepting the low bid of $3589.00 by Joe Bradley Equipment for a new emergency vehicle for the fire department was adopted. H, Smith of Wallace & Holland, engineering firm of Mason City, la., gave a report on a proposed extension of the sanitary sewer in the southwest part of the city. This was referred to the sanitation committee for study and recommendation to the council. Roy Burris, city mechanic for street department, came before the council for a request to purchase an air compressor. This was referred to the street committee for study and recommendation to the council. R.' Llcktelg came before the council concerning a sewer backup in his residence at 218 So. Durant. It was explained that the city could not be held liable for any sewer back-up unless it could be proved that the city was negligent in some way. Three -firms submitted 1 bids for a base radio for the police department, and after considerable discussion it was agreed that the purchasing committee make a study of the bids submitted and make a recommendation to the council. Resolution approving the 1965 Road Use Tax to the State Highway Commission was adopted. Proposed Ordinance #449 entitled " Ordinance amending Ordinance #413, the municipal code, by prohibiting parking in an area bounded by McGregor, Ridgely, North and Phillips streets between 2:00 a. m, and 6:00 a. m. and prohibiting parking on Main street at any time, and providing penalties for the violation thereof" was given the second reading. Authorized the purchase of 60 meter mechanisms to replace the old mechanism. Authorized Mayor, City Clerk and any other city officials that can get away, to attend a League of Iowa Municipalities meeting at Des Moines, la., Feb. 18, 1966, Moved and seconded the meet- Ing adjourn.
