York Daily Record, Thursday, May 1, 1975 9 York Area Deaths Stmtrendered City Relatively Calm Jesse A. Stump Jesse Allen Stump, 84, who until last Friday resided at 736 W. Philadelphia and husband of the late Eleanor Brindle Stump, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jane Wayne, Elmhurst, N.Y. He was born in York County, son of the late Jesse and Ellen Lehman Stump.

A former employe of Dent-sply International, he later managed Kresge 5 10 stores in York, Philadelphia; Charles H.Galloway Charles H. Galloway, 67, of 478 W. Princess died Monday at 9:30 p.m. at Lebanon Veterans Administration Hospital, following a lengthy illness. A native of York, he was a son of the late Samuel and Florence Galloway, and was a veteran of World War II.

The only survivors are two aunts, Mrs. Mary Thomas, York; Mrs. Sylvaia Williams, Atlantic City, N. and an uncle, Edward Burle, Chicago, 111. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Kissinger said simply U.S. policy in Vietnam "did not achieve the objectives of those who started the original involvement." That involvement cost the United States more than 50,000 lives and $150 billion over 14 years. It all fell apart in the lightning offensive that began in the Central Highland jungles in mid-March and ended with President Minn's 60-second surrender announcement at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday (10:20 p.m. EDT Tuesday).

The surrender did not end the shooting immediately. at her residence, 53 W. Maple East Prospect, i She was born in Hellam Township, a daughter of the late Andrew and Sadie Kauffman Koons. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and Sunday School, East Prospect. Surviving are: A son, Gerald Letters Disclosure Discounted Charles A. Krout Jr.

Charles A. Krout 77, husband of Verna E. Gross Krout, 140 S. Kershaw died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barley Convalescent Home South.

He was born in Yorkana, son of the late Charles B. and Emma J. Reisinger Krout. He was employed 45 years by Borg-Warner Corp. and was a supervisor at the time he retired.

He was elder emeritus and member of Bethany United Church of Christ, and member of the Sunday school, Foremen's Club of York, and POS of Dover. Surviving, in addition to his widow, are three sons, Donald B. Krout, 742 Chanceford Robert L. Krout, Quentin, and Dr. Kenneth G.

Krout, 1251 Ruxton Road; seven grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Henry, Glen Rock. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Jay E. Silar Suburban Mortuary, 3222 Eastern Blvd.

His pastor, the Rev. J. Richard Bishop, will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery, near Dover. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Herbert L.

Rice Memorial Fund of Bethany UCC. Mrs. Fannie M. Woltman Mrs. Fannie M.

Woltman, 73, of 464 Waters Road, wife of the late George A. Woltman, died Wednesday at 11 a.m., at her home. County Coroner Kathryn Fourhman attributed death to a heart illness. Mrs. Woltman, a native of York County, was a daughter of the late John R.

and Lydia Ilgenfritz Frey. Surviving are: Three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Heisler, 250 W. Jackson Mrs. Ruth Crumling, 238 Eichelberger Hanover, and Mrs.

Esther Lease, East Berlin. The Rev. Dr. Grantas Hoopert, pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, will officiate at the funeral on Satureay at 10 a.m. from the Bauemister and Orcutt Colonial Mortuary, South Queen and East Jackson Streets.

March, 26, of 778 Pacific Avenue, was treated at York Hospital for scrapes and bruises of the ankle he received when he became pinned under a car he was working on at his home Tuesday about 11:01 a.m. Rex and Lincoln Fire companies responded to the scene but a neighbor jacked up March's car and had him free before firemen arrived. Harry Rider WELLSVILLE Harry Rider, 52, husband of Mrs.

Edith N. Cunningham Rider, Wellsville RD 1, died Wednesday at Lebanon Veterans Hospital where he had been a patient the past 14 months. Mr. Rider was an Army Veteran of World War II, having served with the military police in the African and European theaters. He was a member of Dover Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Shiloh Post, American Legion, and Local Union 520, Plumbers and Pipefitters.

Prior to his illness Mr. Rider was foreman of pipefitters at the Peach Bottom nuclear power plant. He was born in Warrington Township, son of the late Charles and Mamie Lawrence Rider. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Sharon A.

Lehigh, Dover RD Kathy K. Rider, Altamonte Springs, Gloria Lori E. and Patricia E. Rider, all at home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

at the Scott B. Emig Funeral Home, N. Queen Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Theodore E.

Bowers, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, Lewistown, and the Rev. Paul B. Snead, pastor of Dover UCC Church. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens. James C.

Gemmill James C. Gemmill, 52, of 26 Main Reisterstown, died Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. while on a visit with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Saylor, Felton RD 1. County Coroner Kathryn Fourhman attributed death to natural causes.

A native of Stewartstown, he was a son of the late John C. and Esther Fulton Gemmill. A veteran of World War II, he had served overseas. His memberships included the Stewartstown Posts of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Surviving also are another daughter, Mrs.

Nelson Saylor, New Park RD two grandchildren; a brother, John Fulton Gemmill, York RD 6, and a sister, Pearl Ellen Gemmill, Stewartstown RD 2. The Rev. John S. Royer, pastor of Shiloh United Church of Christ, will officiate at the funeral on Friday at 2 p.m. from the Olewiler Funeral Home, 145 E.

Charged With Armed Robbery City Police arrested Robert T. Sprenkle, 21, of 16 N. Main Red Lion, and charged him with the armed robbery of the Blue Bird Cafe, 680 Princess which occurred April 19 at 8:15 p.m. Sprenkle was arraigned before District Magistrate Mildred H. Becker and committed to York County Prison in lieu of $15.00 bail.

Panel To Study State Insurance Laws Proposed HARRISBURG (UPI) -Legislation has been introduced in the Pennsylvania Senate that could lead to revisions in Pennsylvania insurance laws which Insurance Commissioner William Sheppard called among the worst in the nation. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Freeman Hankins, would create a 13-member commission to study the present laws and make recommendations for changes. "Our present code was written more than 50 years ago and even with the patchwork additions over the years, it is hopelessly inadequate to deal with the size and complexity of today's insurance industry," Sheppard said.
