rT ('hki a Friday Aug 22 1975 The COLUMBIAN 3 Planning Commission Orchards plan aired A plan to develop 131 acres of land in Orchards for commercial use was presented to the dark County Planning Commission Thursday night Harold Lacy asked for a rone change from single family residential to general commercial on land at the intersection of NE 112th Avenue and the proposed SR-500 freeway The request was sent to committee to be held until a land use study of the Orchards area is completed The report should be completed in two to three weeks according to staff estimates A companion request for a Downtown Orchards" commercial subdivision has also been filed with the county for the land The land would be divided into 11 lots of one-fourth to one acre each which would be sold individually It would not be developed as a mall Lacy said Water sewer and lights would be installed and the project plan includes an 80 foot right-of-way that would provide another main street for Orchards Lacy said Letters and testimony were submitted to the board expressing support from two realtors in the area and two neighboring property owners who want their land included in the zone change i i Permit recommended A special use permit for construction of a warehouse by the Evergreen School District was recommended Thursday by the Clark County Planning Commission The plan calls for a 100-by-200-foot warehouse to be constructed next to a school parking lot at NE 138th Avenue to alleviate a storage shortage in the district a spokesman said The commission also recommended county commissioner approval jf two zone changes A request by Robert Ferretti for a zone change to allow the construction of a tavern at St Johns Road near NE 52nd Street gained support of the commissioners The request was for rezoning of about one acre of land from apartment residential to general commercial to accommodate The Godfather Tavern Recommendation of approval was also given to Lee Powell request for a zone change to operate a service station at the intersection of Burton Road and NE 112th Avenue In other business the commission: Recommended denial of an application for a zone change that would have allowed the construction of a truck stop in'Woodland Requests for information from the Woodland Planning Commis- sion reportedly failed to draw response on the subject The zone change requested by Darryl Brown would have rezoned 85 acres at the intersection of county roads 1 and 38 from rural use to general commercial Postponed action cm a 39-acre zone change request at the intersection of
