EX-ALGONAN WEDS Ruth Hoerner, daughter of the late Rev, Hoerner of the Congregational church here a number of years ago, and Mrs. Eugene Hoerner Forward, Du- bttfliie, was married Dec. 17 in the Port Totten Chapel, N. Y, to Richard Joseph Adams, Jr. of tierapetead, N. Y. they will be at home in Hempstead. The bride will be well remembered by the young folks here who attended school with her and knew her through the time of her father's pastorship. - o - CIRCLE MEETINGS Circles of the Methodist W. S. N. Robinson and circle 2 with Mrs. Karl Willason. - o - BRIDGE HOSTESS Mrs. G. W. Stillman entertained her bridge club Friday afternoon. Two tables were in play and prizes were won by Mrs. L. E. Linnan and Mrs. H. M. Smith. - o - BABY SHOWER Mrs. Adolph Knoblock, Mrs. James Hershberger, Mrs. Wesley Warner, Mrs. John Ullom and Mrs. John Stephen gave a shower Feb. 3 for Mrs. Gerald Soper, whose adopted son Stacy was taken when only a few weeks old. He is now 12 weeks old. ATTEND MEETING A group of women of the First Baptist church went to Spencer last Wednesday to attend a meeting at which two missionaries spoke. Those in attendance from the local church were Mesdames Walter Steven, Clyde Priebe, Ed Bowman, Paul Richardson, Mack Carlson, Clifford Riebhoff, Karl WlUason, Don Sparks, William Geering, Sam Medln and Frank Cruikshank. - o- MET AT TITONKA A Sub-District ministers and wives meeting was held Thursday at 10 a. m. at Titonka. - o- IN UNIFORM Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts wore their uniforms at the worship Sunday morning in the Methodist church. Five and one- half million members of the Boy Scouts of America celebrated their 56th anniversary Feb. 713. Troop 71 is sponsored by the Methodist Men. Robert Snedden is Scoutmaster and assistants -are Roy Burrls and James Andreasen. - o 'DISTRICT WORKSHOP A Spencer District Workshop on stewardship will be held at Storm Lake Feb. 19, Dr. Charles Sorenson of Evanston, 111. will be guest speaker. Those invited to attend are the pastor, lay leader, chairman of the official board, stewardship and finance, president of the W. S. C. S. and president of Methodist Men, / - o i \ UPW CIRCLES Circles of the United Presbyterian Women will meet Feb. 17; circle A with Mrs, Earl MUler at 1;45; circles B, C and D at 1;30 with Mrs, Trella Patterson; c with Mrs, Kenneth Strayer; and circle D with Mrs, Al Agena, «. o BIRTHDAY CLUB Hattie Wilson and govern Johnson entertained their birthday club at dinner Saturday noon in their apartment at Mrs. Hazel Lueby's. The anniversaries of Bertha Godfrey of Ames, Antoinette Bonnstetter and Esther Quinby were observed, MASONS MEET Masonic Lodge will meet Feb. 17 for a 6:30 dinner in observance of Washington's birthday This will be a Friendship night and open meeting with the Masons invited to bring guests. D. G. Zacharias, Aekley, Iowa, will be speaker and the Anodynes, local high school group will furnish the entertainment. - o * DESSERT LUNCHEON C. D. A. met for a dessert luncheon Feb. 16 at 8 p, m. at Academy hall. This was a Valentine Friendship meeting and each member was invited to bring a non-catholic friend. Viola Crowley and Anita Lalller were chairladies. Win New Orleans Trip Mr, and Mrs, Gene Hood of Algona left Monday via air for New Orleans on a trip won by Gene at Security Insurance Ser- vices, here, in a life insurance company sales contest. They flew from Mason City to Chicago, and by air from there to New Orleans. They expect to fly back Friday. Back From South Mr. and Mrs, Henry Bunkofske returned last week from a trip of several weeks which took them to New Orleans and into Florida.
