Wednesday in Wolf Gymnasium-Auditorium.

The public concert is free. Dr. Joseph Salvatore, YCP assistant professor of music, will direct YCP's Concert Band. Ralph Woolley, also an assistant professor of music, directs YCP's Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers. Thomas Jacoby, a senior music major, is student director of the Concert Choir.

Planetarium Director David R. Black advises that tickets do not have to be obtained in advance, but that the limited seating will be on a first-come basis. Large church groups, scout and civic organizations may make special group arrangements by contacting Richard May at the school district's administration 2 nKNEY' York Suburban High School Planetarium presents "Star of the East," a special Christmas program beginning Sunday. The traditional story of Christmas begins the show, highlighted by the celestial event known as the Star of Bethlehem. Studies and scientific explanations from astronomers for this phenomenon will be explored in the presentation.

A unique light show, "An Electric Xmas" will also be presented. The lighting display will be synchronized with yuletide carols orchestrated on theMoog Synthesizer. Cheryl Wise graduated from the York Academy of Arts in 1968 and received her BS degree in art education from Millersville State College in 1976. Kathleen Laverty, BA Penn State University, has just been accepted as a postgraduate student at the Allgameine Gewerbeschule School of Design, Basel, Switzerland, where she will study graphic design. Iris Knouse, a 1976 graduate of York Academy of Arts, has won several awards for her paintings and has participated in local art exhibitions. The exhibit will run through Jan.

to noon Saturdays. IF XMAS EXPENSES HAVE YOUR POCKETS ALMOST York Symphony orchestra and fhorus will usher in the Christmas Season with their rendition of Handel's Messiah in two concerts on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 4 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. Dr.

James Christian Pfohl, music director and con-ducter, will direct the concert at the First Church of the Breethren, 2710 Kingston Road. The Brass Choir of the symphony will present a prelude to each concert of Christmas carols and chorales. Soloists are Frances Ercolano, soprano, Grace Brame, contralto, Samuel Jordan, tenor, and Richard Crist, bass. The York Symphony chorus has been prepared by Ralph C. Woolley, choral director, and Harold R.

Hunt, accompanist. Only 750 advance tickets will be available for each concert. They are available at the Symphony office, 13 E. Market St. (Chamber of Commerce), or any office of the Drovers Mechanics Bank.

Caroline Eden studied with Lewis Rubenstein and the late Wendell Jones. She received her BA from Vassar where she won the Annual Student Art Exhibit award.

Hannelore Schmied moved to the United States from Germany in 1968. A 1976 graduate of York Academy of Arts, she recently held a one-artist show at York Historical Society. Elizabeth Sufrin obtained her BFA from Syracuse University School of Art, and also studied with the New York Art Students League. Keeney has been playing organ for more than 20 years and is part of the music staff of the Cordorus Church of the Brethren in Loganville. He TONITE 30 ceived a B.A. in fine art from Penn State and an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. Classes will be held at the campus from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays through Jan.

Aspiring woodcutters have an opportunity to learn the art of relief printmaking during a five-week course at Penn State-York beginning Thursday, Dec. 8. Stephen March, Spring Grove, course instructor, explained that students will learn about materials used to make a relief block, including tools, inks, and papers.
