12 «r Use Roller To Paint Your Home Thinking of sprucing up the old homestead with paint, on a "do - it - yourself" basis? To give the painting job a pixiJ stonai look, there's a fast, modem way to apply paint —with a roller. Her e are some key points to look for in selecting a roller, or set of rollers. First, what"s it made of? Newest trend in roller coverings is to the synthetic fibers— among them, Dynel, a mod-acrylic fiber. Second question to ask is: Kow long is the nap? This hasj nothing to do with sleeping onj the job! It refers to the length of the individual fibers on the roller cover. The length of the nap determines the wseking capacity of the roller and how much paint it can hold ready to roll on. The right length varies with the surface to be painted. Long - nap fioers (five-eighths of an inch and over) are rec- orrjmended for rough - textured surfaces; short - nap (one-quarter inch or less) or standard nap (three - eighths to one - half inch) for smoother surfaces. Next, is the shape and size right for the job? Special shapes and widths of paint rollers are designed to give optimum performance on anything to be painted around the home. Some shapes available and th e jobs they do are: "Two - wheeler" contour-painting roller spreads around pipes, poles, downspouts. The "rough-coater" is a long- nap roller of varied widths for rou^h - textured concrete brick, cinderblock, stucco, wire mesh and chain-link fencing. "Ddnut" style is recommend-i ed for corners, underlap of s!d-| ing. contoured molding and slm-l ilar shapes. The "sasnie" eliminates need for masking tape or paint shield when painting window and storm sash, screens, moldings and the' like.' "Standard 9" roller is two ] inches wider than the popular j seven - inch roller, for extra-j fast, accurate painting. This! type is available with a thread-' ed" butt to take extension poles,; reducing the need for ladders; and scaffolds. j "Roller mate" is designed forj sharp cut - in work where walls! meet ceilings or floor, around j li^ht switches, door locks. i _ _ j Two Georgians Held fn Jail SAX ANTONIO, Tex. CAP)—; Joseph Raymond Green andj Harvey Wesley Green of Atlan-j ta, Ga., were held in Bexar County jail under S100.000 bonds today on charges of robbery of an Atlanta bank. They %vere taken into custody Sunday 45 miles west of here on a highway leading to Mexico and were given a hearing! before a U. S. commissioner, j Texas highway Patrolman j Harold E. Becker, stationed atj Hondo, caught the men as theyi drove separate cars. He curbed the first car and stopped the second after a 10-mile chase. The brothers face charges of robbing the Moreland-Custer branch of the National Bank of Georgia of 515,544. A bank camera filmed the holdup. Sheriff Charles Hitzfelder of Medina County said a large amount of money was found in the car trunks, along with a revolver and several pistols. The FBI here said the menj waived further hearings and will be returned to Georgia within 10 days. Tuesday.
