RELIGION THE UKIAH DAILY JOURNAL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25,1987 Two accept missionary assignments Two graduates of Ukiah High School have accepted mission calls from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. These young men are Douglas John Drennan, son of Boyd and his deceased wife, Jan Drennan; and Paul Kenneth Budrow, son of Kenneth and Jeanne Budrow. Both are from Ukiah and are members of the Ukiah Second Ward (congregation). Drennan has accepted the call to serve for two years in the Sepora, Japan, mission. He is presently at the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah and will be in Japan the first week of November. Budrow, currently employed by Chevron Standard Station on Orchard Ave. in Ukiah, will serve a two-year mission in Des Moines, Iowa. He is expected to be at the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah on Oct. 14, and will report to the mission home in Des Moines, Iowa the first week of November. Drennan was freshman class president, sophomore class vice- president, junior class secretary for the class of '86 and was active in student affairs and on the swim team. He has been attending both Brigham Young University of Provo, Utah and Laie, Oahu, Hawaii. Budrow is a recent graduate of Ukiah High and was active in sports activities, especially soccer and baseball. He is active in his church by being the secretary/treasurer of the Priest Quorum. Fall Sunday schools begin Cheryl Johncon Many local churches recently held opening day festivities for their Sunday school programs. Pictured above are the children of Grace Lutheran Church beginning their classes with games, a puppet and magic show and songs. Services United Methodist Christian concert slated for Saturday night Praise Celebration, a nondenominational organization interested in bringing quality Christian music and drama to the Ukiah area, will present an outdoor, end-of- summer night of fellowship and praise, 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26 at Low Gap Park. Local artists who will be participating include: Ginger Mallard. Caroline Redding, Jim and Connie Cratz, Bob Stevens, Michael Porrier, Jeanette Sprague, Cindy Reynolds, Dave Broyels and others. Those attending are welcome to bring a blanket. Admission and coffee are free. This is an ongoing Christian ministry. Some concerts focus on the youth of the community with contemporary Christian music. Others, such as this month's concert, consist of traditional praise music.
