Wt«M«4iy, JMM t J, WJ Anchor opens fifth summer program at Surf side By I.INDY LRGI.ER Tbe Anchor, a new concept In Christian ministry and evangelism, was started on Surftkto Bench In the summer of \m with a Vacation Bible School. The sponsoring church, the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, saw a great opportunity to sent and reach many youths congregating at " '" ' during the summer. The Anchor expanded from a summer Bible school to offer many different programs Including Bible studies, prayer sessions, medical aid. drug counseling, run-a way counseling. Sunday services, beach crusades and a summer coffee house.. Youth frocn all over have gotten Involved with the Anchor through its various frw programs. Bibk> studies *r* heW every Sunday at 10:30 am. An open Bible study is hekl on Tuesday* and Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:W am A young married adults Bible study is held on Friday* from «;*} to 9:30 pjn A nursery is provided for children of parents who attend. for children up to II years, the Anchor offer* a day camp on Tuesdays through Fridays (rwn9to 11:30)1 m. during the summer only The day camp features a puppet show by the Anchor group starring •'Sesame Street" characters such a* CeeJue .Monster. Bert, Oscar. Krai* and Grow.
