14 ttAUU. WbthS: BRO , PH., April 4, IJW High Court affirm* 2 convictions The Maricopa County Superior Court convictions of a robber and a would-be murderer were affirmed yesterday by the Arizona Supreme Court. Vincent Scott was convicted of assault with intent to murder and assault with a deadly weapon when tried in former Judge C. Lawrence Huerta's division of the Maricopa court for the Feb. 18. 1968. shooting of his girl friend, Maurine Freeman, and her daughter, Yvonne, in their parked car on a Phoenix street. In upholding these verdicts against Scott yesterday, the Supreme Court said that intent to kill is presumed from use of a deadly weapon. The high court decision, written by Justice Jack D. H. Hays, also said that the verdicts of intent to kill the mother but not the daughter were not inconsistent. Hays also wrote the Supreme Court decision affirming the conviction of Nathaniel Franklin in Judge Yale McFate's division of Maricopa County Superior Court on a charge of robbing a Phoenix market of $306.
